Nepal Telecom is going to sell its CDMA Ruim Card for Rs 200. Previously sold for Rs 600, NT stated they will be providing CDMA Sky phone and EVDO data card at Rs. 200. It is also told that the 200 rupee RUIM has net talk time worth Rs. 100.
EVDO is the third generation Mobile standard that is compatible with CDMA technology and has a maximum forward link rate (download rate) of 2 Mbps. With the recent reduction of data tariff to 5 paise per 100KB, NT expects the sale of the RUIM and Data card to grow heavily.
SKY RUIM card is the brand name of Nepal Telecom’s CDMA service. Sometimes they also term it as SKY phone. Although all of the procedure to buy the RUIM card is same as to SIM card, they differ on the technology and also the availability.

CDMA is a mobile technology standard which has greater potential in providing telecom service in remote areas. This CDMA sky phone is available in almost all of the places here in Nepal. Nepal Telecom has been distributing the CDMA RUIM card from their office counters.

With 2G, you can use voice, data service with speed ranging in 100 kbps. Whereas with 3G, you can only use the data service as the name Evolution data only (EVDO) implies. The speed of the EVDO technology ranges from 1 Mbps to 2 Mbps.
