Quite a while after launching the Oppo Reno 11F, a new Reno device is finally here in the town with the Oppo Reno 12 5G moniker. This new midrange phone from the Chinese text giant offers a premium looking design, a Mediatek Dimensity 7300 SoC and more. The Oppo Reno 12 is 7.25mm thick and weighs just 179 grams, making it a lightweight smartphone. It is available in two different colors, with a glass front and back, along with plastic frames. The device is also IP65-rated for dust and water resistance. Oppo has ensured a solid build with all around armor build.
On the display front, the Reno 12 features a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display can reach a peak brightness of 1200 nits and supports HDR10+. It has a resolution of 2412 x 1080 pixels with a pixel density of 394 ppi. Additionally, the device includes an in-screen fingerprint scanner and Corning Glass 7i protection.

Camera and AI features
The Oppo Reno 12 is equipped with a triple camera system, including a 50MP Sony LYT-600 main sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens. Unlike its Pro counterpart, it lacks a 50MP 2x telephoto lens. For selfies and video calls, the device has a 32MP front camera with autofocus. Oppo has also provided some AI features here such as AI Eraser 2.0, AI Clear Face, AI Best Face, AI Studio, and AI Smart Image Matting 2.0.
Performance and Storage
Under the hood, the Reno 12 comes with the new Dimensity 7300 processor built on a 4nm process. This is an octa-core processor with four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.5GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz. It is paired with up to 12GB of LPPDDR5X RAM and offers up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Meanwhile, booting the phone is ColorOS14.1 built on top of Android 14.

Fueling the Oppo Reno 12 is a 5,000mAh battery which gets 80W SuperVOOC charging support. Talking of the connectivity features, this device supports 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC and a USB Type-C port.

Our Verdict
The Oppo Reno 12 is a good-looking smartphone with good specs on paper. Its camera setup and AI features are exciting too but as always the pricing is on the higher side. It could have been a lot better, as the competition has better contenders like Honor 200, Samsung Galaxy A55, and Vivo V30 in the same segment.
