Daraz Nepal and Make in Nepal of Confederation Nepalese Industries (CNI) have reached an agreement to promote local products of members of the “Swadeshi” initiative. The agreement involves the leading online shopping platform dedicating a section on its portal for the Swadeshi member products easing people’s access to them.

CNI Director General Dipak Raj Joshi and Daraz Nepal Managing Director (MD) Aanchal Kunwar signed MoU at an event recently held in Kathmandu.

Rajesh Kumar Agarwal, President of CNI, said that this agreement with Daraz aims at providing support in marketing and networking to the members affiliated with the “Make in Nepal Swadeshi” campaign. He shared that other promotional activities will also continue along with policy advocacy to achieve the objective of Swadeshi Abhiyan.

Likewise, Daraz Nepal MD Kunwar said that the platform has agreed to provide a space on its platform for the Swadeshi members to local products. Council member Hitesh Golchha expressed the belief that the agreement will help the Swadeshi members in marketing their products.

Daraz to dedicate a separate section for Make in Nepal-Swadeshi products

As per the agreement, Daraz will establish a Swadeshi section on its online platform ‘Proudly Nepali Channel’ where Swadeshi members will place their products. Besides, Daraz will provide other facilities to promote domestic products. Additionally, it will provide training, and consultation to Swadeshi members to sell their products on the Daraz platform.

Daraz has emphasized local products and production since Aanchal Kunwar helmed as its MD. Now, through its proudly Nepali campaign, the eCommerce giant is giving space to Nepali production to make them more accessible to buyers.

CNI has been conducting the ‘Make in Nepal-Swadeshi’ campaign since 2021 to help build a self-reliant economy by strengthening domestic industrial production and making Nepali goods and services accessible to national and international markets. The campaign is being conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply.
