Nepal Telecom (NTC) has invited Huawei for a price bid regarding the company’s new billing system. Releasing a notice, the telecom giant confirmed the early selection of Huawei after technical evaluation, which is now up for price bid assessment later on.
NT selects Huawei for price bid for the billing system
In March, NTC opened a bid for a convergent real-time billing system. Two Chinese firms, Huawei Technologies and Whale Cloud, submitted their bid, while the former was selected following its technical evaluation.
Huawei has been selected by NTC for the supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of Convergent Real Time Billing (CRTB) and Customer Support (CS) system in a virtualized platform.
According to the company, Huawei’s price bid will be opened on September 15, 2025.

NT’s decision to select Huawei for a price bid has drawn some discussions in regards to the Supreme Court’s statements in March. The SC said that NT should avoid a situation where its billing system partner could gain access to users’ data.

Presently, Huawei is responsible for NT’s core network infrastructure. Many feel that rewarding the billing system to the same company could result in a “vendor lock” situation.
New billing system will solve Ntc’s various issues with current and traditional billing infrastructure
NT’s current billing system is operated by Asia Info. But it’s dated and has run the company into issues time and again.
In the recent past, the company faced various network and billing problems due to its old billing system, which caused inconvenience to the customers and the company itself.
Back in July 2025, NTC suffered 4G and VoLTE disruption due to the same billing system.

The new convergent real-time billing system is expected to rid the company of many issues the company has faced due to its old and traditional billing.
