Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A16 5G in Nepal which comes with a few upgrades over its predecessor Galaxy A15 5G. The budget handset comes with a larger display of 6.7-inch, 5,000mAh battery, and promises up to 6 years of software updates. Samsung Nepal brought its latest midrange iteration, the Galaxy A16 5G, to Otaku Jatra with popular singer Wangden Sherpa on 9 November at the Silver Oak Banquet.
Mr. Pranaya Ratna Sthapit, Director Samsung Nepal said, “By providing an unmatched 6 generations of OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates in its segment, Galaxy A16 5G is set to redefine the value proposition and deliver unmatched experience in mid-range smartphones, enabling users to enjoy the latest features over a long period of time.”

Design and Display
The new Galaxy A16 5G phone shares a similar design to the Galaxy A15 5G phone. It retains three vertical cameras on the back and a selfie camera on the front while the left side has got power and volume buttons. But the phone is slimmer and taller, with 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.9 mm dimensions, while the weight remains the same, at 200 grams. The phone features glasstic back panel with a premium finish and unique key island frame.
For display, the phone comes with Super AMOLED technology with a 90 Hz refresh rate. The screen stretches 6.7 inches long, a tad larger than its predecessor, and sports a 1080 x 2340 pixel resolution. Being a budget phone, the phone’s front is glass, and the back and frame are of plastic but it’s IP54 certified for water and dust protection. Samsung has also launched the phone’s 4G variant Galaxy A16 4G with almost similar specs barring RAM and processor.
Camera
The phone retains a triple camera setup on the back led by a 50 MP main wide camera, a 5 MP ultrawide camera, and a 2 MP macro sensor. Similarly, the front has a 13 MP front camera. If you notice, the camera specs of the phone bear a close resemblance with the Galaxy A15 5G.

Performance
The Galaxy A16 5G comes with MediaTek Dimensity 6300 (6nm) under the hood.Besides, the phone comes with 4/8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of internal storage which is expandable with a shared microSD card slot.
But one of the best aspects of the phone is Samsung’s promise of a record 6 years of software updates and 6 years of security patches which means the phone will stay fresh with software until 2030. Originally, the device ships with Android 14-based One UI 6.1.
Battery and Connectivity
The phone comes with a 5,000mAh battery and 25W wired fast charging. For connectivity, it’s got a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 5G, 4G, dual-band WiFi 5, USB Type-C 2.0, GPS, etc. However, the phone misses out on the 3.5mm headphone jack that was there on its predecessor.
