Xiaomi has finally launched the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 in China. The smartphone was launched alongside other products like Mi Pad 5, Mi Pad Pro, etc. in a special event, Xiaomi’s Autumn 2021 new product launch. The smartphone is the 1st Xiaomi phone to feature an under-display selfie camera and 1st phone in the world to house SD 888+ SoC. Mi MIX 4 Overview
Xiaomi MIX 4 is the successor to the Mi Mix 3 that was launched way back in 2018. The smartphone arrives with some unique features. It boasts features like a 120Hz AMOLED display, 108MP camera, under-display selfie camera, Snapdragon 888+, 120W fast charging, and more.
Design & Display
Starting off with the design of the smartphone, Xiaomi MIX 4 inherits the series’ classic ceramic unibody design. The new fine ceramic material weight is reduced by 30%, which makes it exquisite and light to hold. The phone offers a truly bezel-less display. The smartphone also offers IP53, dust, and splash protection. Xiaomi MIX 4, comes in three color variants: Ceramic Black, Ceramic White, and Ceramic Gray.
Xiaomi MIX 4 flaunts a large and smooth 6.67 inches Full HD+ AMOLED 3D curved display panel with support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. The smartphone comes with a 120HZ refresh rate along with a screen resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. The display panel also features a 20:9 aspect ratio, 87.6% screen-to-body ratio, 480Hz touch sampling rate, 1B colors, 800 nits (HBM) brightness, and 395 PPI density. The device is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
Under-display Selfie camera
Coming to the optical department of the phone, it is one of the highlighting parts of the smartphone. Xiaomi MIX 4 comes with the first Under-display Selfie camera of 20 MP at the front. The Company likes to call it CUP (camera under-panel). Xiaomi has used a special micro-diamond technology that reduces pixel sizes and increases pixel brightness. The camera underneath the display is almost invisible. Thanks to this technology, users will be able to snap clearer selfies with less distortion.
As for the rear, it flaunts a triple camera setup with a rectangular camera module. Xiaomi MIX 4 consists of a 108 MP ISOCELL HMX f/1.95 aperture primary sensor with a 7P lens, 4 in 1 Super Pixel, and OIS. Other than the primary sensor, the rest of the triple camera setup of the phone consists of an 8 MP periscope lens with support for 5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom, and a 13 MP free-form ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture & a 120-degree FOV.
On the videography aspect, you can record up to 8K@24fps, 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60/120/480fps; gyro-EIS, HDR10+ at the rear camera and front camera can record videos up to 1080p@30fps.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus
In terms of performance, Xiaomi MIX 4 is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ processor. It is the first smartphone in the world to be powered by this flagship chipset. It is an octa-core 5 nm-based processor with the Adreno 660 GPU onboard and clocks speed up to 2.99GHz. Talking about the memory configuration of the device, it is coupled with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage onboard. Sadly there’s no memory expansion option.
On the software front, the Xiaomi MIX 4 runs on MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 out-of-the-box.
Battery and Connectivity
Talking about the battery prowess of the smartphone, Mi MIX 4 comes fueled with a massive battery of 4,500mAh Li-Polymer Battery. The device also comes with the support of 120 W fast charging and 50 W wireless charging. It comes with two charging modes – Boost Mode and Default Mode. As per the company, Mix 4 can fully charge from 0-100% in just 28 mins while in the Boost Mode and it takes 45 mins in the Default Mode. The brand also claims that the maximum rear temperature of the phone while charging at 120W is 37°C.
Connectivity options of the Xiaomi MIX 4 include 5G network, Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6e, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 5.2, A2DP, LE, aptX HD, GPS, dual-band A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS, QZSS, NavIC, NFC, Infrared port, USB Type-C 2.0, Dual stereo speakers by Harmon Kardon. Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 Availability And Price In Nepal
Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 is launched at the base price of CNY 4,999 for the 8/128GB variant in China. The smartphone will be available for pre-order and will be available for purchase starting on August 16 at Mi Home stores, Xiaomi’s online store, Youpin, and authorized parts in China. If launched, the smartphone is expected to launch at the price of Rs. 94,999 for the base variant in Nepal. As of now, nothing has been mentioned about whether the company will launch Mix 4 in other regions.
