Nepal Telecom Ntc

As the nation is under complete lockdown due to Covid-19, Ntc, the government-owned telecom operators bring some facilities to people.

Due to the lockdown and safety concern, it is hard for people to renew their mobile and internet services from their homes. For which, Ntc adds a bonus on recharge and also extends the internet deadline to assist the customers in getting communication services easily and uninterrupted.

Bonus on recharge

Nepal Telecom (NTC) has decided to provide a 100% bonus on recharge which comes after the request of NTA to support people in this difficult time. NTA had asked the telcos to provide a 100% bonus on recharge and more credit loan service. They made it clear there will not provide more Sapati. If you want to know about the existing Sapati service, find the Ntc credit loan service.

All the recharges above Rs 10 will enable the same amount of bonus to the customers. As it will take some time to load into the system, they will make the bonus available from Chaitra 13 (Thursday, March 26, 2020). The bonus in Ntc for lockdown will remain in effect for 7 days.

The recharges in GSM, CDMA prepaid and postpaid mobile through recharge card, MPOS will get the 100% bonus.

The bonus amount can be used for pay as you Go data (data service without data pack), voice call and SMS within Ntc numbers only. The validity of the different recharge is as below. Find the different processes to recharge NTC mobile.

Bonus on recharge card.

The bonus amount and the validity for the physical recharge card are shown below:

S.N Recharge card Bonus Validity of bonus
1 Rs 50, Rs 100 100% 2 days
2 Rs 200, Rs 500 Same as the recharge card 4 days
3 Rs 1000 Rs 1000 6 days

Bonus on MPOS or digital recharge

Ntc also provides MPOS or electronic recharge, for which you can find the bonus and validity as below. This bonus is for all the digital recharges online from payment services like eSewa, Khalti and more.

S.N Recharge Bonus Validity of bonus
1 Rs 10 to Rs 99 100% 2 days
2 Rs 100 to Rs 499 same as recharge 4 days
3 Rs 500 to Rs 999 same as the amount 8 days
4 Rs 1000 and above 100% 10 days

Ntc makes it clear that you cannot transfer the bonus amount or use it to buy data/voice pack and even gift to others.

UPDATE: This bonus on recharge is not available now as Ntc has brought internet discounts and stay connected offer with affordable data, voice packs.

How to check the bonus?

To check the bonus amount or free resource on your mobile, you can check either

  • by sending “fr” message to 1415. Then you will get a reply with the amount or free resource.
  • OR by dialing *1415*55#
  • OR you need to check Ntc mobile apps for your mobile number.

Time extension

The decision took by the company in the Ntc internet services are:

  1. NTC to prolong the internet services from ADSL, FTTH if their deadline falls on the lockdown period. The services will remain operational within the lockdown period without any recharge or bill payment.
  2. NTC to waive off the fines for late payment of the landline phones as they could not pay the bills in time with the lockdown.

This accommodation seems to benefit users for the continuation of their internet and landline phones, which is the ultimate need of the hour. People in their house also need to make use of that extension by preferring landline phones over mobile phones. It will also help the telcos tackle the network congestion in their huge usage period.

Update: The time extension of internet services is also not there now along with the bonus.

If you could not find a recharge card, here are the alternative recharge methods in Ntc.

5 times data and affordable voice pack

Now in place of the bonus and extension, Ntc has brought a discount on the internet tariff and Stay connected offer. The internet tariff for the pay as you go is now discounted to 91 paisa and 51 paisa for GSM and CDMA respectively. Similarly, stay connected offer provides 2 affordable data packs and 2 exciting voice packs.

The stay connected day pack includes 1GB+3GB volume at Rs 100 for 5 days and 2GB+8GB volume at Rs 200 for 7 days. Similarly, the voice pack includes a 60-minute on-net call at Rs 25 for a day and 285 on-net voice minutes at Rs 100 for 7 days. Read more details and the process to buy Ntc stay connected offer.

Awareness message

Earlier Ntc initiated the coronavirus awareness voice message to people through default caller ring tone to all of their subscribers. They had also provided an IVR call center to access Coronavirus information from the voice call.
