Nepal Telecom (NTC) has announced that people in the earthquake-affected areas such as Jajarkot, Rukum East, and Rukum West. will get free voice and SMS services. Releasing a notice, the communication giant said that its free service would be effective for 5 days. A 6.4 Richter scale earthquake struck Nepal with epicenter in Jajarkot, Western Nepal at 11:47 PM claiming over 129 lives at the time of writing this post.
The company has expressed deep condolences on the passing of those from the tremors last night. In its notice, the company said that all of its communication services are fully functional in the earthquake-struck districts. It has also expressed commitment to keep its services running uninterrupted as rescue operations are underway.
Ntc’s free voice and SMS service will be available in East Rukum, West Rukum, and Jajarkot. The company said that its free service comes as part of its responsibility to contribute to emergency situations.

Likewise, the state-backed company says that it will provide users with free SIM cards. Customers will get free SIM cards over the next five days. These SIM cards will come with free voice and SMS services. Users can get free NTC sim cards from Ntc offices in Surkhet, Rukum East, Rukum West, and Jajarkot. Besides mobile services, Ntc says that it will provide Namaste WiFi for free as per necessity.
