The government has appointed Sabina Maskey Pradhan as the new Acting Managing Director of Nepal Telecom (NTC MD). Pradhan will now lead the company as the former incumbent, Sangita Pahadi’s post went into automatic suspension after a corruption case file recently at the Special Court for billing system AMC.
The ministerial decision dated Jestha 28, 2082 (June 11, 2025) to appoint Pradhan as the company’s new Acting Managing Director came on the third day of the CIAA bombshell. Through a swift appointment of its new leader, the company expects to resume its daily operations smoothly.

Sabina Maskey Pradhan is currently working as the CTO (Chief Technical Officer) of the company, also being the senior most director in the company. The senior most director position at NT is the immediate post after MD. Therefore, she was in the pole position to get the appointment as the new Acting Managing Director at the company. She entered Nepal Telecom as an Engineer on Magh 25, 2049 and became permanent on Falgun 10, 2051. She had worked in several departments including Wireline directorate, Business department and more.

There are challenges and opportunities for the Nepal Telecom Acting MD
Sabina Pradhan’s appointment as the new Acting MD comes amidst controversial times for the government-backed telecom giant due to recent billing case. She will now lead the charge as the company’s Acting MD.
The new Acting MD will now have the responsibility to carry the company forward. The company has projects in place to improve 4G coverage, speed and also to introduce latest technologies like 5G. Additionally, she is also responsible for bringing NT Fiber services to more local levels across the country.
Assuming office, she expressed her commitment to move ahead for the progress of the company by fulfilling the responsibility provided by Government of Nepal, MoCIT. For this, she would garner support and cooperation from everyone, in the challenging situation.
In recent years, the company has only seen its finances dwindle. Ntc saw a 49% profit decline in the third quarter of FY 2081/82. Having the worst financial reports in recent times, the new Acting MD having a strong technical background will also be expected to turn around the financial fortunes of the company.
Besides all the challenges the telecom industry faces, she also has a unique opportunity to restore the company’s normalcy and restore its positive growth.
