Nepal Telecom has announced a tender for an NT Cloud Platform. The company has invited international bidding from interested entities for the supply, delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning of cloud platform.

NT Cloud Platform for internal and enterprise uses
Nepal Telecom says that it intends to use its NT Cloud Platform for IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, STaaS solutions for its internal and enterprise purposes. The company will build it in Kathmandu and Bhairahawa. The bidding document mentions that the platform shall be based on x86-64 servers along with Software Defined Networking (SDN) network elements.
The bidder shall also perform the design of the cloud platform so as to handle various services including ERP, BI, HADOOP, BIGDATA, Microservices, Web
Hosting, DB, AI/ML applications, etc. It shall also provide the technical proposal with network deployment architecture, cloud solution architecture to support NT as a cloud service provider.
NT requires it to be a vendor agnostic solution while implementation or expansion of nodes, storage to be done in multiple stages.

Telco to DSP
With this bidding, Nepal Telecom (Ntc) intends to differentiate its services, changing from the traditional telco model to the CSP (Communication service provider) or as DSP (Digital Service Provider). This will definitely be beneficial to enterprises, individuals requiring cloud services and also open new revenue streams to the operator. All in all, a giant player entering this field will obviously assist in realization of the country’s digital transformation goals.

NTC has issued the bidding under International Competitive Bidding-Single Stage Two Envelope Procedure.
Bidders who choose to submit their bidding electronically can download the documents from PPMO’s e-GP system at www.bopatra.gov.np/egp. Bidders shall also submit a deposit of Rs 40,000 or $290.
As per NT, the company will open the bids in the presence of bidders’ representatives or even in their absence at 1:00 PM on September 14, 2025. This will process at the company’s office of Chief Technical Officer, Central Procurement Department, Bhadrakali, Kathmandu.
