The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist or CPN UML) has announced that it will provide 10 GB of internet for free for a year. Mentioned in its manifesto for the Falgun 21 election, the party shared that it will provide the data to the youths between 18 and 28 if it gets to lead the government after the upcoming election.

In its manifesto, the party said that the data offering will help provide users with digital freedom and global access. The manifesto also includes providing youths with dollar cards of $10,000 for startup, tech products, and digital marketing.

Further, it mentions the unprecedented expansion of telecom and information technology. In the past three decades, one in three thousand had a telephone. At present, a citizen has, on average, more than one telephone. Likewise, internet service has reached from 0 to 82% households. The party adds that IT use has rapidly increased in trade, financial transactions, and public services.

The party has promised maximum use of ICT to deliver good governance. It further shares the plan to launch a locally made satellite and ensure connectivity in rural areas. The party has also talked of making progress in AI in Nepal. It says that work will be done to prioritize innovation based on AI and generative AI. The party also shared that it will take steps to develop a sovereign large language model and use it where necessary.
