Digital payment service provider eSewa has announced a conservation initiative during the Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2026. The company has pledged financial support for the protection of endangered red pandas and their natural habitats. Under the campaign titled ‘Every Boundary Counts,’ eSewa is contributing Rs. 2,000 for every six and Rs. 1,000 for every four hit during the tournament, with a total contribution capped at Rs. 10 lakh, including taxes.
The initiative is being carried out through a partnership between eSewa, Red Panda Network, and Red Panda Network Nepal. As the official ticketing partner of NPL, eSewa aims to connect the excitement of cricket with wildlife conservation and environmental protection.
Red pandas, locally known as Habre, are listed as an endangered species on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List. Protecting and restoring their natural habitats is essential for their long-term survival.
According to eSewa, the funds collected through boundaries during NPL 2026 will support red panda habitat restoration and improve the livelihoods of local communities.
As part of the initiative, a dedicated conservation and plantation campaign will be conducted in community forests across Ilam and Panchthar districts in June and July 2027. These districts are among the major habitats of red pandas in Nepal.
The project aims to restore around 10 hectares of degraded forest land and plant 10,000 native trees. The newly planted trees will also receive regular care and protection to create a safer environment for wildlife.
Furthermore, the initiative is expected to generate approximately 600 paid workdays for local residents. Women will receive priority in employment opportunities to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.
