Nepal Telecom (NTC) and Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) have formalized a plan to use high-speed internet for CCTV networks. With this collaboration, the local bodies will use the state-run telecom company’s FTTH service to create local intranet networks for its wide CCTV networks.
The two signed an agreement on Friday, November 07, 2025, at KMC’s head office in Kathmandu Plaza. It was signed by Saroj Guragain, Chief Administrative Officer of KMC, and Indal Yadav, Director for Bagmati Province of NTC.
The cooperation will see KMC and its ward offices using Ntc FTTH technology for their CCTVs. KMC will make arrangements for CCTV, router, and required infrastructures, while NT will provide high-speed bandwidth and necessary assistance. It will also lend a hand for service maintenance, technical support, network monitoring, and upgrade service as needed.
The collaboration between the national telecom giant and government bodies continues to grow. Just recently, the government activated free public WiFi in various areas in Kathmandu, with NT being a key hand along with other ISPs.

The company is also providing free WiFi hotspots at Tribhuvan International Airport and other domestic airports across Nepal. The partnership aims at promoting digital inclusion and improving efficiency for government work.
