Nepal’s hugely popular super app Hamro Patro has officially launched a video conferencing service, “Chautari Meet”. The title, which gives the physical Nepali gathering place a modern and digital tweak, allows users to place HD video calls within the Hamro Patro app.

Hamro Patro Inc, the parent company of Hamro Patro, says that the video conferencing platform provides an efficient and accessible digital communication service for users. In Nepal, there are already many popular video-conferencing apps. But the locally made product could also become a household option as Hamro Patro has an outstandingly large reach among Nepali smartphone users, over 10 million at least.

Chautari Meet is more than just a video conferencing service …

Sudina Gautam, Director of Hamro Patro, shares that Chautari Meet is built to be a multipurpose and meaningful platform.

Stressing its versatility and utility of the service, she stated, “Chautari Meet is more than just a video conferencing service. Our vision is to provide Nepali users with a simple, secure, and reliable digital communication experience. We are continuously enhancing the platform and will soon introduce advanced features such as Meeting Scheduling, Document Sharing within chat, mobile content sharing, and direct Live Streaming to Facebook and YouTube. We have developed Chautari Meet as a trusted and homegrown digital alternative for official meetings, online classes, training sessions, and family conversations.”

She also shared that to enhance convenience for users, more features will be added to Chautari Meet in the near future. These include an ability to ‘Meeting Scheduling’, ‘Document Sharing’ in chat, share content from mobile, and ‘Live Streaming’ directly on Facebook and YouTube.

She said that the platform can be useful for official meetings, online classes, training, and chatting with family members.

Likewise, Shankar Uprety, CEO of Hamro Patro, said, “We’ve been using Chautari Meet for the past two years for all our internal and client meetings, and it’s been an incredible experience. Excited to now bring this powerful meeting platform to all our users.”

  • You can tap and share the link to the video conferencing with your friends and family in your account
  • When they click, they can join your video conference
  • Now, you can start your video conference on Hamro Patro’s Chautari Meet

PS: You don’t need to download and install a separate Chautari Meet app for video conferencing. It’s available within the Hamro Patro app.

Availability and key features

Hamro Patro’s Chautari Meet video conferencing platform is available on both Android and iOS. For desktop and laptop users, it’s also available on the web available at https://chautari.hamropatro.com/.

As you can see in the screenshot, the user interface of Chautari Meet is very friendly and efficient. The options are effectively placed, and they are few and usable to their optimum effect. Like in other platforms, as a host, you can mute audio, turn off video, and also remove other participants. Additionally, there’s an in-meeting chat option that allows users to exchange messages during their live meeting.

It’s also noteworthy that there is no time limit. Users can continue engagement in the video calls for an unlimited period.

Why may you choose it over others?

Hamro Patro’s Chautari Meet is a locally made video-conferencing platform. It’s available on mobile and web. So, that’s another convenience. And effectively enough, you can video call without a time limit. There are options such as Zoom, Google Meet, etc., with the first being the most prominent. However, Hamro Patro’s product provides a locally made and highly effective means to communicate using video calls.

Of course, there are some inconveniences. You need to share the link to bring in the participants, but that’s common with other platforms, too. But yes, not everyone may have Hamro Patro already to use the service. Therefore, that’s a key prerequisite.

There’s no major dealbreaker in not using Chautari Meet. In fact, it looks very promising from its UI, inviting, easy login process, and not requiring the installation of a separate app.
