Nepal Telecom restores fiber service in affected areas after Bhotekoshi floods

Nepal Telecom (NTC) has started NT Fiber service in the areas hit by the Bhotekoshi floods. The company has restored the service in Rasuwagadhi, Betrawati, and Trishuli areas.

According to the company, the devastating floods have washed away 2 Optical Line Terminals (OLTs) – 1 each in Rasuwagadhi and Betrawati, 5 Fiber Distribution Cabinets (FDCs) – 1 in Rasuwagadhi, 1 in Betrawati and 3 in Trishuli, as well as about 128 kilometers of aerial optical fiber cables, affecting a total of 1,544 Fiber to the Home (FTTH) lines in the area.

To restore the service, NTC had quickly mobilized its technical manpower and resources. So far, 1,093 of the affected lines have been restored, completing the first phase of service restoration work. Already, NT has restored 120 flood-affected cellular sites across the regions.

Nepal Telecom restores fiber service after Rasuwa flood

Nepal Telecom says that it will restore the remaining lines gradually based on the geographical and settlement conditions in each area. The restoration works will go ahead on the basis of technical feasibility and customer demand.

NT says that it is committed to providing access to quality telecom services to customers as soon as possible in this difficult situation following a natural disaster.

The company has expressed its heartfelt gratitude for the patience and trust received from the customers during the period of service disruption.
