Initially, they used the ‘Kaymu moniker for this online shopping platform and then rebranded into Daraz in 2016. Daraz was originated in Pakistan in 2012. It was founded by Muneer Mayr & Fares Shah. In 2018, Alibaba acquired the company. Since then Daraz has expanded massively into the hearts of online shoppers. The company has already expanded its delivery services to more than 47 cities in Nepal via 15 delivery hubs.
This platform has also widened its products range year after year. Also, seasonal & festive sales have become quite popular among customers. The recent 11/11 and 12/12 sales were a massive hit for Daraz. Shopping on Daraz has become hassle-free due to its Cash on Delivery, Card Payments, e-wallet payments via eSewa, IME Pay services. Daraz Rebranding 2022
The e-commerce platform Daraz is rebranding itself again. The company is not likely to change its name whereas the initial step of the change can be taken as its logo & UI changes. If you are a Daraz app user, you might have noticed the UI changes from the evening of January 16. The theme of the app has refreshed with a new orange & teal color combo. Also, the logo changed after an update on January 17.
The new logo resembles a package that is symbolic of how the e-commerce platform integrates sellers to customers on the same platform. The center of the icon is an arrow plus a play button. The arrow accentuates the focus on progress and fast deliveries. Whereas the “play button” is showcasing the continuous & dynamic content experience for users.
Daraz’s New UI For Home Page
The new UI is based on the same orange & teal theming with a minimal outlook. The entire background of the homepage is now in teal color. While some icons & text are in orange. It is a refreshing look than the previous orange + white theme.
While for the rest of the sections, there are no significant UI changes. The ‘Messages’, ‘Cart’ & ‘Account’ sections are still bearing the old orange + white theme. Let’s see if Daraz will update the entire parts of the app to match the new theme in the future.

Daraz’s Words on Rebranding
Here’s what Daraz has to say regarding the rebranding, “With the rebrand, Daraz will move towards creating a more exploratory and personalized experience, where the focus is not only on selling products but also ensuring that it will continually improve the quality of services and products at each step of its customer journey, as well as develop new avenues of engagement for its users”. The company also believes that a brand should be more than a logo in today’s world.
“The new look and feel of the refreshed brand still represent the elements that have always been part of our DNA – progress, innovation, exploration, and discovery. At the same time, it signifies a shift to a personal experience that will allow us to create greater connectivity with both buyers and sellers on our platform,” said Mr. Mikkelsen, the CEO of Daraz group.
The new logo & UI theme is indicating new things to see in the upcoming days. Daraz has just gotten bigger & bigger each year. Last year, the app was integrated with the Live Streaming feature from Daraz. The feature is enabling people to communicate with the seller & solve the queries of the buyers. The company believes to expand its business with a sense of trust, reliability & speed in operation.
