Mobile Network Operator Nepal Telecom (Ntc) is going paperless to render its services more efficient, and transparent. For this, the operator’s Information Systems Support Directorate has implemented the Document Management System and Workflow (DMS and WF) systems.

The company has said in its AGM report that it will implement digital signature, DMS to make its works paperless through automation.

The company states that the digital practice in its workspace is at the moment an experiment.

It hopes the two advanced systems will boost service efficiencies at Ntc offices and centers. The company says it will gradually digitalize its services in all the offices across the country.

For now, Ntc has implemented DMS and WF for the best delivery of its services as part of early trials. Read: How to transfer balance in Ntc SIM?

The drive to go paperless has become a necessary trend in Nepal’s service sectors after the waves of lockdowns. Ntc, Nepal’s largest telecom operator in terms of subscribers has now teased its own digital transformation.

Ntc plans to go paperless by incorporating DMS and WF systems in multiple phases, Technology Khabar writes. For now, the telco has started a paperless system from the Information System Support Directorate and the Central office.

The company says that after the successful experiments, the transformation will follow at other directorates, departments, and offices.

DMS and WF will make the paperwork in the company fully automated and more efficient.

DMS and WR are the two vehicles for Ntc’s paperless drive. Speaking of each, DMS is a system that tracks a file, converts it into an electronic copy, stores, and retrieves it. It electronically handles document exchange among the employees of the company. It can process text files such as PDF and Word documents ultimately saving time and money.

Secondly, Workflow streamlines “internal” work processes and conveniently reduces the time for the company. For example, with it in place, employees don’t have to spend their time filling up a form and getting approval. They can get it done in an automated system with the help of software. The employees meanwhile can focus on being more productive.

Ntc spokesman Shobhan Adhikari says that the paperless system is operating as an experiment at the moment.

“We have started on a small scale. When we determine its results, we will implement it (paperless system) at all our offices,” he said. Check out: Ntc Brings SIM KYC Update and FTTH Portal on Mobile App

Similarly, the company has initiated work on electronic signatures. it has procured electronic signature systems for its 250 employees and integrated them into the DMS. After the integration completes, the document management system will come into full effect. Ntc has partnered with Radiant InfoTech for the supply of electronic signatures.

The electronic signature will help ensure authenticity and legal recognition on documents processed via electronic exchange within the company.
