Nepal’s leading internet service provider (ISP) WorldLink Communications has started its high-speed internet in Tenji, Upper Dolpa. The company set up its broadband at an elevation of 5,200 meters.

“With the vision of “Connecting Everyone, Anywhere, All the Time, we have reached new heights at Tenji Upper Dolpa at 5200m,” WorldLink said. The launch of the internet will now connect the locals to the company’s reliable internet service.

The company has been prioritizing rural communication expansion more aggressively in recent months. Recently, the private ISP brought its high-speed broadband service to Jumla. Diverse and difficult terrain poses struggles in launching internet services in the Northern region of Nepal. However, WorldLink says that it plans to expand its services to more remote areas in the coming months.

“Our team is working continuously to deliver the internet connection challenge at extreme altitudes! Proud to connect the unconnected!,” the Kathmandu-based ISP added.

To provide internet, the company has set up the gears on top of the hills. Solar panels are employed to power the infrastructure. Find out: WorldLink Internet Packages, Price, Speed, and Offers | Latest Update

Internet access is growing in Nepal however, the discrepancy remains in terms of connectivity between urban and rural areas with the latter boasting far more diverse quality options and services. In the Northern remote regions, the digital divide is even worse due to the cold climate and difficult geography. But it’s good that service providers are making attempts at expanding their services defying unfavorable conditions.

WorldLink is Nepal’s largest ISP in terms of customer base with over 7.7 lakh customers across the country.

Being a technophile, I am particularly fascinated by the evolution of mobile networks in Nepal from legacy networks (2G, 3G) to 4G (with VoLTE, VoWiFi, eSIM) and the prospects of the upcoming 5G, and equally enthralled by the development of internet from the dial-up connection to the 2 Gbps XGS-PON fiber broadband technology and their transformative impact in the country.
