Nepal Telecom (NTC) has launched 4G in various remote localities in Manang district. The company replaced the V-SAT-inspired 2G with 4G to provide modern and more reliable telecom services in the areas that facilitate tourism while also shaping the digital economy.
NTC started 4G in Ngisyang Rural Municipality’s ward no. 1, Pisang, ward no. 3 Dawal, wrd no. 8 Tanki Manang, and wrd no. 9 Khangsar on Ashoj 04, 2082. The company upgraded the technology from VSAT to 4G to address pressure for local businesses, and facilitate locals and tourists with advanced cellular services. The company installed several BTS (mobile towers) to beam 4G signals in the above areas.
Unlike 2G, 4G now enables users to connect to much faster data service and use Ntc VoLTE for HD voice as well. It also unlocks the possibility for hotels to use Namaste WiFi, where fixed-line internet service is not available. At the same time, locals and tourists can also use 4G to connect with their family, friends, and followers with video chat and social media posts.
ADSS Link enables 4G in Besisahar-Khangsar
Due to the uneven geographical nature, even installing a radio link was difficult. But NT has established the ADSS (All-Dielectric Self-Supporting) Link in Besisahar-Khangsar, making it possible to operate 4G. The company says that it plans to soon launch fourth-generation mobile services in Tilicho Base Camp and Thorongfedi. In its presser, the company says that it has already proceeded forward with the initiative too.

In order to address the complaints of poor mobile network coverage in Kotogaun, Chame Rural Municipality (3), keeping in mind the demands of local residents and hundreds of customers working in the hydropower sector regarding the quality of service, a new BTS has been established, and Dhan and Dhan mobile service has been brought into operation from Ashoj 1, 2082.
Bringing 4G to more areas also extends the reach of mobile broadband and meets the modern demands of connectivity. The company may also use 4G gears for 5G technology. Therefore, the newer technology the better for Ntc and the customers both.
