The smartphones market is taking a storm each month with rising in several users. The market can be divided into three segments; entry-level, mid-range/upper-midrange, and flagship phones. Today, we are comparing some of the entry-level phones available in the market. So, here are our best phones for under Rs.13000 in Nepal, with their features. Don’t forget to read the verdict below.

Redmi 9A

Starting off the list is the Redmi 9A. Redmi has been a fan-favorite brand for those seeking the best out of their budget. This entry-level phone boasts a 6.53″ IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution. Also, the display has a Gorilla Glass 3 protection, making it the only one on this list. As usual, it gets a normal 60Hz refresh rate and a PPI of 269.

Stating for the optics, Redmi 9A sports a 13MP camera with f/2.2 aperture, the highest resolution on the list. The camera is capable of shooting up to 1080p videos at 30fps. On the front side, there is a 5MP shooter for selfies.

Redmi 9A

Performance-wise, Redmi 9A has a Mediatek Helio G25 chipset coupled with 2GB or 3GB of RAM. Helio G25 is an entry-level 12nm chip with Octa-core (4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.5 GHz Cortex-A53). While the GPU is PowerVR GE8320. It boots on MIUI 12.5 on top of Android 11.

Other notable features of this phone are; a dedicated MicroSD slot, P2i nano-coating for splash resistance, IR blaster, Bluetooth 5.0, 3 5mm jack, USB Type-C port, etc. The battery here is 5000mAh and the phone supports up to 10W fast charging. And Redmi has bundled 10W charger in the box. The phone misses a fingerprint scanner.

Samsung Galaxy A03 Core

The second device on our list is Samsung Galaxy A03 Core. This phone features a 6.5″ TFT screen with HD+ resolution. While Samsung has not specified any display protection, the frame and back are made of plastic. As expected, the refresh rate is 60Hz and the screen has a 270 PPI density.

For the optics, the A03 Core also sports a single camera having a resolution of 8MP with an f/2.0 aperture. This can shoot up to 1080p Full HD at 30fps. Meanwhile, the front snapper has a 5MP resolution for selfies.

The device is powered by a 28nm Unisoc SC9863A chipset. It is an Octa-core 4×1.6 GHz Cortex-A55 & 4×1.2 GHz Cortex-A55 CPU with IMG8322 GPU. This is paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of eMMC internal storage. It boots on Android 11 (Go edition). Software experience should be a bit cleaner and light.

Following the specs, the device gets its juice from a 5000mAh battery. It supports up to 10W of quick charging but Samsung has only provided a 7.5W charger in the box. There is also a dedicated slot for a Micro SD card, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a Micro USB port. While there is no fingerprint scanner here too.

Realme Narzo 50i

Realme Narzo 50i is the next phone on this list. The entry-level phone from Realme boasts a 6.5″ IPS LCD HD+ screen with 270 PPI density. It has a plastic back and plastic frame with no display protection. However, it gets a splash-resistant body.

Realme Narzo 50i has an 8MP single camera on the back with an aperture of f/2.0. It can shoot up to 1080p at 30fps videos. While the teardrop design screen houses a 5MP front camera.

Our Verdict

Redmi 9A is arguably the best one on this list. Thanks to its comparatively powerful Helio G25 chipset, the performance will be slightly better than the other phones. The Unisoc chipset on rest three phones is a bit underwhelming. It will also need more juice due to its 28nm architecture. Even for the optics, Redmi 9A has the highest 13MP camera compared to the 8MP cameras on the rest of the phones. Furthermore, this becomes the only phone on the list to have Gorilla Glass protection.

Well on the software side, some people might feel MIUI not to be as smooth as the Android Go edition, which is there on the Samsung Galaxy A03 Core. Similarly, the Realme Go editions are also good for the price. The rest of the features are almost the same. The entire phone in this list has a dedicated MicroSD slot, 3.5mm jack, mono speaker, and splash-resistant body. Also, the front camera resolution is no different from each other.
