BSNL launches INR 1 Azadi Ka Plan at INR 1 with unlimited call, data

BSNL Azadi ka Plan Ru 1

India’s government-backed telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) announced an “Azadi Ka Plan” (Freedom Offer, let’s say) as the country approaches its Independence Day celebrations. And the remarkable thing about it is that the entire offer is available for just INR 1 (₹1). While it’s an Indian affair, I was also teasing myself with the idea of a Rs 1 plan in some sort of offer for GB of data, SMS, and voice.

The company announced the massive offer via its social media handle on August 01, 2025. The move is celebratory but also strategic. The company seeks to lure in more subscribers to its network through this delightfully affordable package. Let’s get into more details around the BSNL offer now.

  • 10 best tips to improve your mobile signal

BSNL brings INR 1 Azadi Ka Plan brings GB of data, voice, and SMS

BSNL’s Azadi Ka Plan, which costs INR 1, only comes with 2 GB of data (on 4G), unlimited all-net voice, and 100 SMS per day. Once the 2 GB data is used up, they get to browse unlimited at 40 Kbps. And another good thing is that the offer comes with a validity of 30 days. Therefore, it’s a wholesome plan for the subscribers with all these major telecom resources.

Mobile data usage

The telco is also offering a free 4G SIM card under this plan. The offer is effective from August 01 to 31, 2025.

Who can subscribe?

The plan is available exclusively for new BSNL users. Interested users can get this offer by visiting their nearby BSNL retailer or Common Services Centre (CSC).

A Rs 1 offer in Nepal?

As I realized this super affordable offer, I was also teasing myself with the idea of a similar offer in Nepal. We do have data packs that go as low as Rs 22 for data a day on Ntc. Ncell also has similar plans available for its users. However, we don’t have a comprehensive offer that comes in at Rs 1 with unlimited all-net voice, gigabit of data, and a large volume of SMS.

BSNL (after native 4G expansion) is growing in terms of revenue and active subscriber number. This Re 1 (₹1) plan is a strategic move to gain/retain its subscribers by inviting Indians to try testing their network and keep if they are satisfied.

As per Nepal, if a third telecom operator comes into play, they will obviously bring this kind of offer to break the duopoly of Ntc, Ncell. Likewise, if a telco wants to grab more market share in terms of subscriber number, they will also try out similar plans.

So, Nepali telecom giants Ntc and Ncell can think of a similar offer for subscribers chancing on the festive season or Republic Day or something similar. Check out: All Ntc data packs | Latest 2025

Would you like Nepali telecom companies to also bring a Rs 1 plan with data, voice, and SMS with considerable validity? Or do you think it is difficult for them given the current challenges of Nepal’s telecom industry? Do share in the comments below.
