Apple has made iPhone 16e available in Nepal. The model replaces the iPhone SE 2022 and iPhone 14 and features some notable “firsts” including Apple’s C1 modem. Design and Display
In terms of design, the iPhone 16e comes with flat sides. It’s built on aluminum and glass. The front of the phone has a ceramic shield while the back is glass. According to Apple, the phone uses 85% recycled aluminum in the enclosure. For comparison, it’s very different from the iPhone SE. There are no top and bottom bezels and a home button. However, the inclusion of the Action Button increases the functionality of the users. It’s designed to provide a modern look and function.

The iPhone 16e runs on Apple A18 chipset which is optimized for performance and battery performance. The chipset is built on a 3nm fabrication process. It’s also notable that for the first time, Apple has also used its own 5G modem- C1. Apple says that the modem will contribute to better battery life and offer up to 26 hours of video playback. The modem doesn’t support mmWave but will provide faster 5G performance.

Camera
The phone only features a single 48 MP “fusion” camera on the back. Apple says that it’s a “2-in-1 camera system”. That’s because the camera features an integrated 2x telephoto which digitally converts a 48 MP wide sensor into a 12 MP telephoto. The camera comes with dual-LED dual-tone flash and supports up to 4k recording at up to 60 fps.
The front has a 12 MP camera an improvement from 7 MP unit. The f/1.9 lens should also help produce sharp and bright images. Just like the back camera, the selfie unit also supports 4K shooting at up to 60 fps and 1080p shooting at up to 120 fps.

Apple doesn’t reveal the battery capacity but it’s said that the iPhone 16e carries a 3,279mAh battery. It doesn’t sound much if we compare it to the other best phones out there. However, the optimization works shall do a better job with battery life on the phone. The phone does charge fast enough, 50% in 30 minutes. There’s no MagSafe charging but has Qi wireless charging support of 7.5W. The battery department saw some cost-cutting measures but the phone keeps its usability intact. Our Verdict
Apple’s iPhone 16e is a cultural shift from the US phone maker. The phone seemingly phases out SE lineups, uses a traditional notch, and features an in-house modem. The phone is also revolutionary in photography with its fusion camera technology. And unlike other “affordable” offerings, this one looks more modern and functional. The drawbacks? There’s no ultra-wideband, thread, or Touch ID. Besides them, the phone is a capable device for its price range. You should also love this one for its ability to run Apple Intelligence AI features.
