ICT professional Sunaina Ghimire Pandey has won the prestigious Ncell Woman ICON ICT Award 2023. She won the recognition at the ICT Award 2023 grand finale at the Soaltee Kathmandu on Poush 06, 2080.
Ghimire was presented with the accolade from the Communication Minister Rekha Sharma. Sharma was among the attendees at the spectacular event and also the chief guest for the opening ceremony. Besides the award, Ghimire also received Rs 3 lakh in cash from Ncell. The private telco collaborates with ICT for the woman ICON ICT Award.
Who is Sunaina Ghimire Pandey, the Ncell Woman ICON ICT Award Winner 2023?
Sunani Ghimire Pandey comes from a thorough ICT background. She has served as an Assistant General Manager at Tech One Global Nepal. She started as a programmer and instructor in 1998 and earned diverse experience in a Series of Microsoft Operating Systems and application Localization as a Project Coordinator. In 2005, she served as a Microsoft Account Manager and led the Microsoft Partnership for Technology Access (PTA) program as a Business Development Manager in 2007.
As a multi-disciplinary ICT professional, Pandey is seasoned across various knowledge from Market Development, Microsoft Business and Solutions, IT Trade, National Standards on IT, Technology and Information Management, and Anti-piracy movements in Nepal.
Pandey who is the Managing Director at General Technology is also active in the social sector in development initiatives for creating technology-mediated frameworks for rural e-service. In line with this purpose, she has served as a member of the Lions Club, Forum for Information Technology Nepal (FIT Nepal) as General Secretary, Served in the Nepali Language in Information Technology Committee which was under the High-Level Commission for IT (HLCIT) of the Nepal Government, etc.
Pandey has served as the Secretary, General Secretary, and Vice President at CAN Federation Nepal.

This year, there were 34 nominations for this award. Of the total, 7 distinguished women achievers were on the shortlist which Pandey battled through eventually.
Last year (in 2022), Sheela Kansakar Karkee received the Ncell Woman Icon ICT Award 2022. In 2021, this award went to Guna Keshari Pradhan. Likewise, Prof. Timila Yami Thapa received this award in 2020.
