Samsung, one of the biggest tech brands in the world, has launched the new mid-range phone in India. The brand has launched the new version of the popular Galaxy M21 smartphone dubbed as Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition. The smartphone might come to Nepal too. The Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition is the successor to the same smartphone dubbed as Galaxy M21 that was launched a year back in Nepal. The mid-range smartphone boasts specs and features such as Exynos 9611 chipset, FHD+ sAMOLED display, 6000mAh battery, and more. 

Design/Display

Looking at the design of the smartphone, it is similar to Galaxy M21 but also arrives with few changes. The brand comes with a new design at the rear. It has diagonal lines and has a pill-shaped camera module that houses two cameras and a small circular ring enclosing the third lens. The device has a plastic body. Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition has an Infinity-U notch that houses the selfie camera at the front. 

Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition sports a stunning 6.4 inches (16.21 cm) Full HD+ Infinity U Super AMOLED display along with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and a 60Hz refresh rate for an immersive viewing experience. The device also features a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 84.2% screen-to-body ratio, 403 PPI density, and 420 nits of peak screen brightness. It has a rear-mounted Fingerprint Scanner for biometrics security.

Cameras

Talking about the optical department of the device, Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition flaunts a triple camera setup at the rear. The smartphone comes with an upgraded camera sensor. It consists of a 48 MP Samsung GM2 primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture, an 8 MP  ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture & 123° Field Of View (FOV), and a 5 MP depth sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. The smartphone houses a 20 MP Selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture at the front to capture beautiful and gorgeous selfies. 

As for the videography features of the smartphone. The rear cameras are capable of recording videos up to [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], gyro-EIS. On the front, it records videos up to [email protected] 

Performance

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition is fueled by the powerful 10 nm Exynos 9611 processor which is the same as its regular version Galaxy M21. It is an octa-core chipset based on 10 nm processing technology that comprises 2 Cortex-A73 that clocks up to 2.3 GHz and 6x  Cortex-A53 clock up to 1.73 GHz. As for graphics, it has a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. The device comes coupled with two different variants 4GB/ 64GB and 6GB/128GB. It has LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.1 internal storage. And yes the internal storage can also be expanded up to 512GB via a dedicated microSD card slot. 

On the software front, the device runs on Samsung One UI 3.1 Core on top of Android 11. 

Battery and Connectivity

The battery prowess of the smartphone is one of the highlighting factors. Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition boasts a monstrous 6,000 mAh dual-cell battery. The device also features support for 15 W fast charging via a USB Type-C port. As per Samsung’s claims, the smartphone lasts up to 22 hours of internet usage, the video playtime of up to 29 hours, the music playtime of up to 121 hours, and a voice call/talking time of up to 49 hours.

Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition is launched at the starting price of INR. 12,499 for the base variant 4GB/64GB and INR. 14,499 for the higher 6GB/128GB variant in India. The smartphone will be available for purchase starting from July 26th via official Samsung online stores, Amazon. in, and retail stores. It will be available in two different color variants – Arctic Blue and Charcoal Black. The smartphone is expected to be priced around Rs. 20,999 for the base variant in Nepal. Our Verdict

The smartphone boasts a powerful Exynos 9611 SoC, FHD+ sAMOLED display, upgraded 44 MP rear primary cameras, large 6000mAh battery, and more. But the thing is the smartphone does not come with considerable improvement in the table, it is almost identical to its predecessor. So, it makes me question, was there really a need for this new edition? Don’t make a mistake though it is a very impressive mid-range smartphone in this price segment.
