Samsung’s this year flagship phone Galaxy S23 Ultra has tied for 10th place in DxOMark ranking for camera performance. The device comes with the best possible camera configuration in the Galaxy verse, and it goes toe-to-toe when it competes with other smartphone OMEs.

In the DxOMark ranking, the Galaxy S23 camera went behind a few other popular brands such as Huawei, Google, Honor, Apple, and Xiaomi. In its ranking, DxOMark explores all the good and the underwhelming aspects of the premium Samsung device.

On the positive spectrum, the S23 Ultra camera performs consistently making for a supreme user experience with photography. It’s a familiar trend with Samsung phones. Its hardware and software optimization is perfectly in sync and makes for a highly commendable camera phone.

Similarly, reviewers also endowed the S23 Ultra optics with praise for solid rendering capability, autofocus, and video recording. They also admired its telephoto function.

“In our tests, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra performed well for still imaging, capturing impressively high levels of detail in landscape shots”, DxOMark wrote.

However, even the phone with the bumper 200MP main camera in a quadcore optical setup did not bring in the superlatives for its camera configuration. Reviewers pointed to its few shortcomings including loss of sharpness and shutter lags when shot in low-light conditions. Focus instability and exposure in backlit scenarios also were to blame for the underwhelming reviews.

Galaxy S23 Ultra camera ties at 10th place with Google and Vivo

For its minor lag in a few areas, Galaxy S23 Ultra slumped to 10th place sharing the ranking with Google and Vivo. Strikingly, the luxury phone didn’t even make it into the top 5 of the DxOMark ranking.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra tied with Pixel 7, and Vivo X90 Pro+ for the 10th rank. Each raked in 140 points for the rear-facing camera.

For the front camera, Galaxy S23 shared the place with Asus ZenFone 7 Pro with 137 points. Again, the device ranked in 10th place.

In the meantime, Huawei Mate 50 Pro, Google Pixel 7, Honor Magic4 Ultimate, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, Huawei P50 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, and at last, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra came ahead of S23 Ultra. You can find out the entire DxOMark test here.

But should you worry?

If you are planning on buying the mighty Galaxy S23 Ultra, and are concerned with this review for its camera, you should probably stop fretting. The review is carried out by one platform and it’s definitely not going to be the most objective assessment. For your relief, the device packs a massive punch for its overall camera functions and should do away decently for any scenario. It is just that the standard is set far too high for phones at such high-end lineups that a few minor lags could raise a few doubts.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra features the highest-rated specs in the industry and at least for the next year, you won’t find many devices rocking performance as it does. So, we do recommend that you don’t need a second thought to buy the phone from the camera perspective.

Right now, the booking period is over for the Galaxy S23 smartphones. So, you can buy it from authorized stores.
