Ntc, the government owned telco has operated a new GSM tower in the remote area of Sindhupalchowk. With the operation of GSM tower, Ntc GSM signal is now available in several places in that area.
The new GSM BTS tower was installed in the remote place of Barhabise Nagarpalika Ward no 6 called Gati Mandra. Ntc made the tower operational from Falgun 29, 2074 (Tuesday), providing mobile coverage to Manisaura, Gumthang, Thagam, Tatopani and Listi.
The new Gati Mandra BTS location is at 15 km distance from The Last Resort ( the venue for Bunjee jumping). Ntc says they have provided 2G and 3G service with the tower. So, customers in that places can now make a call from the GSM signal. They can also use the data service in that area. Altogether 4 thousand people have been benefited with the operation of that GSM tower.
Ntc has been recently extending their GSM service to remote areas where only CDMA service was available before. If they keep on extending the coverage with such towers, it will be useful later to use the same infrastructure for future technologies like 4G.
