Government has assigned full authority to Mr. Purushottam Khanal as the NTA Chairman. Earlier he was working as the acting Chairman of the NTA.
He was appointed the acting NTA chairman for being one of the senior director in the regulator. Telecommunication Regulations has the provision to assign the senior director as the NTA Chairman, in absence of NTA Chairman. After the resignation of Mr. Digambar Jha as NTA Chairman, Government assigned Purushottam Khanal as the Acting NTA chairman.
He was also one of the candidates for the open competition to NTA chairman post and also among the three recommended names to the Government.
Now with the full authority, he can perform all the responsibilities in the capacity of a full NTA Chairman. The Cabinet decision on Magh 25 assigned him the full responsibility.
With the full authority, we can expect Purushottam Khanal to perform better for the developement and regulation of the telecom sector of Nepal.
