Nepal Telecom (NTC) has started the operation of its mobile network in the remote areas of Rasuwa, Taplejung, Dolpa (Phoksundo), and Mustang. With those base stations, Nepal Telecom could provide mobile network signals to places where there were no communication services before.

Pangsang and Langtang: Rasuwa

Ntc has operated two base stations in Pangsang and Langtang of Rasuwa. With the first Mobile tower, Ntc could serve the Langtang trekking route, some parts of the Gosaikunda trek route, Thulo Syaphru, Bhimsa, Singawa, Nagthali, Gyatlang, Sherpa Gau, Lama Hotel, Ghoda Tabela, Muntu, Singdum, Khanging, etc. This mobile tower is situated at an altitude of 4290 m and will serve 500 households and 2000 people. Another mobile tower, at 3242 meters of Langtang route serves 200 households and 700 people.

Ghunsa: Taplejung

Nepal Telecom also operates another mobile tower in Ghunsa in the Taplejung district. The mobile tower at 3825 meters serves Ghunsa, Thame, Jyalpa, and Kanchanjunga Base Camp (KBC). This will benefit 80 households and 300 people there.

Dolpa: Mukot and Shey Phoksundo

The mobile tower at Mukot will serve two wards of the Charka Village body, and two wards of the Kaike Village body (Tanchin, Khanigau). The tower is situated at 3316-meter altitude. Similarly, a tower in Shey Phoksundo at an altitude of 3704 m provides a mobile network for Ryati and Pugma, Rikhe, Taripja, and Phoksundo Lake. The tower serves a total of 2000 people in the area.

Pangsang Danda mobile tower

Mustang

Recently, they also expanded their mobile network in Ghami and Choser of Mustang. Ghami Tower at 3800-meter altitude will serve YaraGhara, Ghami, Dhakmar, Garthu, Nyandro, Chungjung, and Korala Way. They have also operated a 3G service in the Upper Mustang which will serve Chusang, Jetang, and Chaile Village people.

Although those remote places need huge effort and investment for the mobile tower, Nepal Telecom keeps on expanding its service to those places. At the same time, the revenue outcome from such places is pretty low, according to Nepal Telecom. Despite the low outcome, Nepal Telecom being a government-owned telco has a policy to expand telecom services in such remote areas.
