Nepal Telecom provides zero balance package to needy customers for COVID-19 lockdown

Nepal Telecom (NTC) has brought a Zero balance offer to support all people for the communication service in this COVID-19 lockdown period. The zero balance package will not be available for all but for only those people who are deprived of communication due to no or less balance.

Who will benefit?

Ntc has identified those needy prepaid customers by some criteria as those who made at least one call in the first week of lockdown (Chaitra 11 to 18). In addition to the above, the customer also needs to have less than 33 paisa mobile balance on the mid-night of Baishak 8, 2077. If both the criteria are met, then Ntc has sent a message to those numbers. The customer also needs to reply within 2 days to the same SMS as stated there, to get the package for free.

What’s in the zero balance package?

The package available in the zero balance offer is valid for 7 days which includes

  • 100 MB data
  • 50-minute voice call within Ntc number
  • 25 SMS (on-net within Ntc mobile).

All the numbers that do not fall in the above criteria receive those packages. Whereas Ntc declares that they may change the modality of such packages and the criteria as per the circumstances and requirement.

If you are one of those who do not fall in that criteria but have less balance, you can get Ntc loan for free.

Additional balance and validity

NTC also provides the package for free to the zero balance but not one-way barred numbers, from the lockdown data till now. They also add some minimum balance to the numbers to prevent it from barring one-way and increases the validity period until April 30, 2020.

This is one nice gesture of Nepal Telecom to help the needy people in these difficult times. As people who can find digital recharge have already been recharging their mobile numbers, this way of identifying the needy ones seems quite effective.

Earlier Government had directed all ISPs and telcos to provide uninterrupted communication services despite failure to recharge. For which ISPs have responded to benefit the sick, people with disability and elderly ones only for regular internet service. Similarly, Ntc also tries to support the neediest ones who cannot do the recharge themselves or even get support from their near ones.

We have an intuition that the people who are reading this post now in search of free offers are not the ones who fall into these criteria mostly. So, we request you to forward the information to those who do you think might fall into these criteria. They might be totally unaware of this.

We suggest you read their affordable data and voice pack for this lockdown period which comes by the name Ntc stay connected offer.
