Nepal Telecom’s FTTH service is now available in 101 local levels of 52 districts. Now the service has almost 150K subscribers around the country.

The state-owned telecom operator has accelerated its FTTH expansion while they have also started replacing its dated ADSL service for high-speed fiber internet service. According to the telco, new customers increased by an average of 500 before the COVID-19 lockdown. But the restrictions have not dissuaded the public from installing the next-gen fiber net. Despite lockdown, Nepal Telecom has added at least 50 FTTH customers every day. NTC has added the highest number of fiber customers in the pandemic period.

So far, 1 lakh 48 thousand 714 customers have Connected NTC’s Fiber to the home plan, as per Nepal Telecom’s Data.

An experienced tech writer covering news mostly on telecommunication, internet, latest tech & trends, and Gadgets. Being a technophile, I am particularly fascinated by the evolution of mobile networks in Nepal from legacy networks (2G, 3G) to 4G (with VoLTE, VoWiFi, eSIM) and the prospects of the upcoming 5G, and equally enthralled by the development of internet from the dial-up connection to the 2 Gbps XGS-PON fiber broadband technology and their transformative impact in the country.
