Nagarik App and Cura Health win World Summit (WSA) Award

Nagarik App and Cura Health have won World Summit Award (WSA) 2022. The popular online services won recognition for their digitalization of government services for the public.

Earlier, Nagarik App, Veda, and Cura Health were shortlisted for the awards.

Nagarik App and Cura Health attained the recognition for Government and Citizen Engagement and Health and Wellbeing category.

WSA is a globally recognized platform headed by International Center for New Media that recognizes firms for their local digital innovation that improves society. The organization has 19 years of experience in digital content with the participation of over 182 participating countries. It recognizes global online services in 9 categories.

Nepali online platforms this time also earned their name in its fraternity for helping society with the digital transformation of services. The Nagarik app is a government-built platform that provides various government services via the app. In the long run, the government seeks to curate all the services on the app. Cura health on the other hand is an e-health service that helps people manage their appointments with hospitals, labs, and doctors. The company calls itself a “one-stop solution for your medical needs.”

Razan Lamsal (ICT Award), WSA’s National Team Expert for Nepal said that the win is a testament that Nepali digital products and innovation are reliable. He also pointed out that Nepali online services should stress the expansion of the further digital ecosystem.

Nepal is the only country from South Asia to earn the awards in two categories.

Nagarik App and Cura Health wins WSA Award 2022

Nagarik App Project Manager Santosh Aryal shared his delight at the WSA Award win. He acknowledged that the win also brings challenges and a need to cooperate at the international level.

The winners will receive the awards on the same occasion where each team will get pitch training and an introduction with the mentor.  

Following the announcement as the winners, both Nagarik App and Cura Health will have a chance to deliver their presentations at WSA Global Congress in March next year. The team with the best presentation will be able to compete to become the Global WSA Champion 2023.
