Nepal’s leading private telco Ncell has claimed the “The HRM Awards for Corporate Excellence 2024”. The company received the prestigious recognition in the Multinational Company (MNC) category at the 4th HRM Corporate Excellence Award ceremony. The award ceremony was held on Tuesday, at The Plaza, Pulchowk, Lalitpur.

Bishakha Lakshmi Khadka, Interim Director of Marketing, Communications & Sustainability, and Sukant Adhikari, HR Manager of Ncell, received the award on behalf of the company.

Ncell says that the award reflects the company’s efforts and dedication to serve Nepal in telecommunication industry. The telco has played a very important role in the country’s digital transformation and promotion of connectivity. It has helped bridge the digital gap and promote digital inclusion since its inception.

Ncell in fact has remained a vital part of Nepal’s telecommunication industry as a multinational company for the last two decades. Besides being a telecom operator, it has also been a major contributor to the government as tax payer. The company has posted Rs. 320 billion in taxes to the government. In addition, it is also highly active with its corporate social responsibility (CSR) duties spending Rs. 2 billion in various education, health, environment, and other such projects.

Ncell celebrates Best Multinational Company award win

Ncell says that the MNC award win shows its outstanding achievements and is a testimony to its commitment of excellence in all aspects of its business and operations.   

With the award win, Ncell says that its “committed to maintaining the highest standards of corporate excellence, setting a benchmark for Nepal’s business community.” Ncell started with 2G mobile service under Mero Mobile banner. Since then, it has seen some shift in ownership with the latest being Axiata Group that left Nepal back in December 2024, Currently, Spectrlite UK Limited has majority of equity shares in Ncell which operates under the ownership of Satish Lal Maharjan.

Going forward, Ncell says that it will further its commitment to Nepal’s socio-economic and ICT development.

Ncell has over 1.19 crore 4G users and holds 49% of market share. The company is currently planning on launching 5G network trial.
