Nepal Telecom (NTC) has launched its 4G mobile network in the Langtang Kyanjin trail. The launch of this high-speed mobile data service will promote connectivity, tourism, and local businesses at the popular trekking route.

The Langtang-Kyanjin trekking route is the closest Himalayan trekking destination from Kathmandu. NT says that the 4G connectivity on the route helps users to connect with their family and friends during their adventurous expedition. The fast-data service lets users share their photos and videos on social media and share their experiences easily on their smartphones and other gadgets.

Nepal Telecom launched 4G in Langtang-Kyanjin trail by setting up a mobile tower (base station aka BTS) in the Kanjin Valley. It’s at an altitude of about 3,800 meters above sea level. This shows the company’s commitment to expanding its advanced carrier services even in remote regions. Being a government-backed company, NT makes an effort to ensure service even in rural and remote areas despite the possibility of low to no financial gains. If you were unaware, Nepal Telecom transports telco equipment on helicopters to expand its services.

NTC 4G in the Langtang-Kyanjin trail benefits all

Kyanjin valley lies in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality (4) of Rasuwa district and is a two-day walk away from Syafrubeshi. It lies in the Langtang National Park area and is a popular attraction for both domestic and foreign tourists. NT believes that the 4G service launch in this Langtang-Kyanjin itinerary will benefit the local residents of the area, tourists, and businesses, and promote tourism in general.

So far, Ntc has connected over 98% of local levels with 4G. The company might cover all 753 of the local levels with the 4G network in FY 2082/83, that is in line with government’s plan.

Ntc 4G provides you high speed internet, and HD quality voice via VoLTE. Find the top features of VoLTE service.

The availability of Ntc 4G service in the Langtang-Kyanjin trekking route is another milestone for the company. Let’s hope the service benefits everyone with the high-quality cellular network and serves the locals, promotes tourism, and the local economy.

Being a technophile, I am particularly fascinated by the evolution of mobile networks in Nepal from legacy networks (2G, 3G) to 4G (with VoLTE, VoWiFi, eSIM) and the prospects of the upcoming 5G, and equally enthralled by the development of internet from the dial-up connection to the 2 Gbps XGS-PON fiber broadband technology and their transformative impact in the country.
