Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has sent a letter to NNET seeking clarification over its internet service launch without tariff approval.
Recently, NNET launched internet service for customers with WiFi 6, IPTV, and IPv6 technologies. It mentions in its presser that it is a licensed service provider. However, NTA said that it though it has a license to operate, it didn’t process tariff approval before launching the service.
NNET obtained its license to operate internet service in Baisakh 15. Just recently, it rolled out fiber internet with fiber-to-the-room (FTTR) technology. It’s launched 100 Mbps, 200 Mbps, and 300 Mbps high-speed packages starting at Rs 911 (without 13% VAT). It’s targeted both residential and office subscribers with its WiFi 6-backed internet service.

But now, the company may have to run into regulatory issue with NTA over its services. According to NTA provisions, an ISP has to get tariff approval before it can commercially roll out any service.
