Ending a long wait and anticipation, Apple has finally and officially launched its first-ever foldable phone, iPhone Duo, along with iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 09, 2026. The new device combines a compact outer screen with a larger foldable display, along with Apple’s latest A20 Pro chip and AI features.
Design and Display
Unfolded, the iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED inner display. It has a nano-texture finish to reduce glare and supports ProMotion, Always-On display, and boasts up to 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness. When folded, you get a compact 5.4-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED outer display. Both boast a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone directly competes with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra carries an 8.0-inch main display and a 6.5-inch cover display.
device uses a Grade 5 titanium frame and hinge cover, Ceramic Shield protection, and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. The phone weighs a remarkably light 254 grams for a foldable phone.
A20 Pro chip and AI features
The iPhone Duo is powered by the A20 Pro chip and is paired with an advanced thermal management system and a custom vapor chamber. Apple claims that it offers up to 35% better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro.
The A20 Pro features a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU, and dual 16-core Neural Engine. It also offers up to 20% faster CPU performance and 50% more memory bandwidth than the A19 Pro.
