Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra launched with 8-inch display

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, along with the Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 at the Galaxy Unpacked event in London. This is the first time the phone maker has introduced an Ultra version foldable, and it comes with some noticeable features worth noting. 8-inch main display and a comfortable weight

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra sports an 8-inch main display just like on its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold7. The display size offers plenty of real estate for content consumption and productivity tasks. The cover display stretches 6.5 inches. Both screens are LTPO AMOLED 2X with up to 120 Hz of refresh rate.

Likewise, the build profile is equally impressive. The device stands at just 4.1 mm thickness when unfolded and weighs just 215 grams. So, even though it’s a large-screen device, the form factor makes it very comfortable to carry in a pocket and in hand.

Samsung says that it has refined the foldable experience to make it more comfortable on a daily basis while also helping the device to be more durable and resilient. The company says that it has improved the hinge mechanism, addressed the crease issues, improved the folding magnets, and also bettered the edge design. The improved Flex Titanium technology also helps reduce the display crease and achieve maximum durability.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra delivers strongly on the AI front. The display of the phone unlocks multiple AI experiences. Gemini Notebook helps with making notes. You can upload a PDF of projects and have the device transform it into an AI-generated video, presentation slides, podcasts, etc.

The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, which is a 3nm build and rocks a clock frequency of up to 4.74 GHz. It’s an Ultra device and is super powerful with the latest chipset from Qualcomm, meaning that everything you throw at it, it will run like a boss. In terms of resources, it comes with a minimum RAM of 12 GB and all the way up to 16 GB of RAM. For storage, it starts at 256 GB and has up to 1 TB of ROM as an option.

The foldable boots on One UI 9 based on Android 17, the latest software treat from Google. Samsung has promised up to 7 major Android upgrades, which means 7 years of priority from the company.

200MP main camera

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra comes with a triple-camera setup. It has a main wide camera of 200 MP with OIS. There’s a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 50 MP ultrawide sensor with multi-directional PDAF support. Users can record videos in up to 8K resolution at 30fps from the back camera. Likewise, on the front, there’s a 10 MP selfie camera and another 10 MP cover camera. You can take 4K videos using the front camera.

Battery and charging

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra features a 5,000mAh battery, which is commonplace in Samsung phones. It comes with 45W wired charging, which, according to Samsung, charges it to up to 67% in just 30 minutes. Additionally, it supports 20W wireless and 4.5W reverse wireless charging to juice up the earbuds and smartwatches.
