Nepal Telecom (NTC) has launched 4G services in Makalu Rural Municipality ward no. 2 in Sankhuwasabha. The launch of the broadband service provides high-quality connectivity for nearby areas and also the hilly regions in the Makalu Base Camp trekking routes.
The company has brought into operation a new cell tower in Cheksedanda in Makalu RM ward. 2. The tower is beaming signals for areas that were not served before. According to NTC, the 4G network has provided coverage in nearby settlements in ward no. 2 and ward no. 3, and in Mangsima in ward no. 5.

NTC 4G in Makalu Base Camp Route
Nepal Telecom (NTC) says that its 4G service has become available in the hilly areas of Makalu Base Camp’s trekking routes. The connectivity now offers the locals, tourists, rescuers, government, and private businesses to use data for browsing the internet, transacting finances, saving lives, etc.
The company has prioritized 4G expansion in recent months. As of speaking, NT 4G is available in the Pathibhara Temple area and other historic and cultural places. Also, in 38 areas where modern equipment can’t be feasible for transport, the national telco is using VSAT technology to provide communication services.
As of now, NTC 4G has reached 750 local levels out of 753. That means the company could achieve full coverage for 4G in 2083. It’s also eyeing to become the first telco to launch the 5G network in Nepal. That might take a while, a year or more, but 4G is close to reaching a 100% coverage status.
NT says that it will continue to bring modern and innovative technologies to ensure fast, reliable, and high-standard communication services to its customers.
