Apple Pay and Google Pay payments for Nepali businesses
NIC ASIA says that the service is designed particularly to make digital payments easier for customers from outside Nepal. For this, businesses must be connected to the bank’s payment gateway. The facility is useful for businesses like hotels, restaurants, travel and tourism companies, hospitality businesses, and e-commerce platforms that regularly engage with international customers.

Visa and Mastercard support
NIC Asia Bank’s digital payment facility supports Visa and Mastercard payments, allowing customers to make payments through their cards linked to supported digital wallets.
The bank says that the integration is aimed at connecting Nepali businesses with the wider international digital payment ecosystem. This enables Nepali businesses to receive payments from customers who prefer wallet-based transactions.
The bank is using its CyberSource payment gateway for the service. NIC ASIA’s existing internet payment gateway is designed to allow merchants to accept card-based online payments from domestic and international cardholders.
NIC Asia Bank supports Google Pay and Apple Pay in Nepal for digital payment ecosystem
The advent of Apple Pay and Google Pay payment acceptance for Nepali merchants reinforces the already expanding digital payment ecosystem in the country.
For businesses, the ability to accept internationally popular payment methods can be useful when serving tourists, international clients, and Nepali customers using overseas-issued cards. It makes the payment hassle-free, fast, and efficient.
It reduces payment friction faced by foreign customers when purchasing products or services from Nepali businesses online.
Apple Pay is only ‘supported’
NIC Asia is only bringing support for Apple Pay and Google Pay payments. So, it’s not that both these platforms are available for Nepali users as wallet services for Nepali-issued cards. The service only allows Nepali merchants to receive payments digitally from international customers.
Therefore, the new NIC ASIA facility primarily benefits Nepali merchants receiving payments from supported Apple Pay and Google Pay users, particularly international customers.
The bank says that the initiative helps connect Nepal’s local businesses with global digital payment networks while supporting the growth of secure and convenient electronic payments in Nepal.
