Vianet Connectivity Partner Chitwan Rhinos

Nepal’s leading ISP, Vianet Communication, has become a connectivity partner for Chitwan Rhinos, a T20 cricket team participating in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2. The two formalized their collaboration at a special event on Friday, November 07, 2025.

The agreement papers were signed by Shahin Shrestha, the Vice President of Retail Sales and Marketing, and Aashish Khadka, Chief Operating Officer at Chitwan Rhinos.

The second edition of NPL (2025), Nepal’s biggest franchise cricket tournament, runs from Mangsir 1 to Mangsir 27 (November 17 to December 13, 2025) at the Tribhuvan University (TU) Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. National player Kushal Malla is the marquee player of Chitwan Rhinos.

Regarding the Connectivity partnership with Chitwan Rhinos, Vianet has stressed spreading positive energy in the country.

“We have been associated with sports since the beginning. Our investment in sports is more of a responsibility than a business. It is an investment in our society and the new generation, which is helping to spread positive energy within the country. Moreover, sports, like the internet, bring people closer and strengthen relationships with each other. This is why we are continuously supporting the sports sector,” said Shahin Shrestha, Vice President, Commercial and Marketing Department, Vianet.

This is not an isolated participation of Vianet in a sporting event. It has, in fact, consistently taken it as a social responsibility since its inception. Prior to this, Vianet was the title sponsor of both the International Women’s Football Championship held in Falgun and the Corporate Cricket League held in Bhadra. Similarly, the famous footballer Savitra Bhandari ‘Samba’ was announced as the brand ambassador, and the company also launched the popular ‘Vianet Samba Pack’.

Through this collaboration with Chitwan Rhinos, Vianet has expressed its belief that it will play a role as a bridge connecting the morale of the players, the emotions of the spectators, and sports enthusiasts across the country.

Being a technophile, I am particularly fascinated by the evolution of mobile networks in Nepal from legacy networks (2G, 3G) to 4G (with VoLTE, VoWiFi, eSIM) and the prospects of the upcoming 5G, and equally enthralled by the development of internet from the dial-up connection to the 2 Gbps XGS-PON fiber broadband technology and their transformative impact in the country.
