Smartphone giant Xiaomi has officially launched its mid-range beast, Redmi Note 17 Pro, in China. The new-generation phone comes with a 6.83-inch display and a mammoth 9000mAh battery. With this phone, including the Redmi Note 17, Xiaomi has skipped the linear naming convention, which would have been “16”. This post guides you through all the major features, specs, and possible price range for the phone in Nepal.

Design and Display

The Redmi Note 17 Pro is designed with a four-micro curved wraparound side frame, rendering a noticeable contoured edge on the chassis. The phone comes in four color ways- Sky Blue, Nebula Purple, Black, and White. The Blue variant comes with a sky texture on the back. The phone boasts certification of IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K for protection from high-pressure water jets and dust. Weighing 226 grams with 8.5mm of thickness, the phone does look standard in weight. However, the curves on the sides make it comfortable to carry.

The phone shares some similar specs with its predecessor, Redmi Note 15 Pro, in display format. It has a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with 1.5k resolution. What has improved is the peak brightness level, going from 3200 to 3500 nits. So, the visuals remain crispy and vibrant while they have become more viewable under the sunlight.

50 MP main camera

The phone features a dual-camera setup- a 50 MP main wide camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. But the phone deviates in camera module design from its predecessor. Now, it houses the cameras vertically on a raised surface with sensors housed in large pill-shaped modules. Likewise, the front gets an 8 MP camera for selfies and video recording. Both sides’ cameras can record videos in up to 1080p resolution.

Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 power and HyperOS 3

The Redmi Note 17 Pro gets its power from the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. It’s a 4nm build and comes with eight cores with up to 2.4 GHz clock speed. The phone works solidly for all gaming titles out there. Besides, it boots on Xiaomi’s latest software skin, HyperOS 3, built on top of Android 16.

Battery and connectivity

The Redmi Note 17 Pro heavily emphasizes a long battery serving the users. The phone boasts a huge 9000mAh battery, the largest ever on a Redmi Note phone to date. It’s equally great that this large cell is complemented by a 67W wired charging capacity and a 22.5W wired reverse charging. The Redmi Note 15 Pro had a 7000mAh battery with 45W of fast charging. So, there go the other key improvements.

Xiaomi has said that the first-time buyers in China receive a free five-year battery upgrade warranty, wherein, in the first to fourth year, if the battery health drops below 80%, the user gets a free battery replacement. And if the battery health drops below 80% during the fifth year, Xiaomi offers a free upgrade to a larger-capacity battery. This offering may also come to other markets upon release, and it’s already too exciting. The phone connects to WiFi 5, 5G, GPS, Bluetooth 5.1, etc.
