4G mobile network and internet are launching soon in Badimalika, the popular tourist destination in Bajura district in the Far Western region of Nepal. The communication minister, Dr. Bikram Timilsina, has forwarded an initiative to bring modern communication services to the region. And for the unaware, it’s the same place that received more attention after the current PM Balen Shah pitched for the place as a tourism hub during his promotional campaign.
Recently, Communication Minister Dr. Bikram Timilsina has directed the concerned bodies to launch internet and telephone services in Badimalika. He urged the government-backed telco Nepal Telecom (NTC) to start telecom services in the region, pointing to the lack of them.
He directed that arrangements be made to transport equipment by helicopter immediately as there is no way to transport through the road network. In a discussion held at the ministry, NTC has committed to bringing telephone services into operation within the month of Shrawan, 2083.
The company has said that the materials for the construction of the telephone tower have been transported to Dhangadhi and Kailali and that work can be done quickly when the Nepal Army helicopter is available.

Nepal Telecom bringing 4G in Badimalika at 4200m of altitude
The minister, Dr. Timilsina, also held discussions with the Prime Minister’s IT advisor, Bibek Mishra, to expand telephone and 4G in tourism and remote areas, including Badimalika, as soon as possible. Nepal Telecom is working as per the government’s commitment to expand internet services in remote areas of Nepal. It aims to immediately provide 4G services in the Badimalika temple area (4200 meters altitude) of Bajura.
Launching 4G at Badimalika will greatly benefit the area for the locals, tourism, and the digital economy. It’s one of the hottest and most-talked-about places for tourism at the moment. And the 4G access enables the locals and the tourists to post and share their experiences with others while also unleashing digital payments. In addition, users can access NTC VoLTE services for HD calls too. In short, it has multi-pronged benefits for all.
According to sources, NTC is going to invest over Rs. 6 billion in FY 2083/84 to expand services and improve quality in rural areas.
