  • 4G mobile network and internet services launched in Badimalika, a key tourist destination in Bajura, Nepal.
  • Communication Minister Dr. Bikram Timilsina virtually launched NTC 4G at the popular destination.
  • To launch the network, Nepal Telecom had transported necessary equipment by helicopter due to challenging road access.
  • NTC aims to provide 4G services at Badimalika, which benefits locals, tourism, and the digital economy significantly.
  • Launching 4G enables users to share experiences and access digital payments, enhancing connectivity in areas like the Badimalika temple.
  • NTC plans to invest over Rs. 6 billion in FY 2083/84 to expand services in rural areas and improve quality.

4G and 2G mobile network and internet services are now live in Badimalika, the popular tourist destination in Bajura district in the Far Western region of Nepal. The communication minister, Dr. Bikram Timilsina, virtually inaugurated the service for the region on August 24. And for the unaware, it’s the same place that received more attention after the current PM Balen Shah pitched for the place as a tourism hub during his promotional campaign.

The 4G service went live on Monday at around 1 pm after the tower installation work completed. The coverage serves Ward No. 5 and 6 of Triveni Municipality, Ward No. 5 and 6 of Badimalika Municipality, and the famous Triveni Patan on the hiking trail from Martadi, the headquarters of Bajura, to Badimalika.

Nepal Telecom’s Engineer Sudarshan Acharya, Technical Officer Madhav Budhathoki, Civil Engineer Deepak Bhatta and other technicians took a major role in the tower construction work.

On the occasion, Minister Timilsina said that the government is firm on ensuring citizens’ basic right to communication. He thanked the Nepal Telecom employees who are continuously deployed to provide telecommunications services in the area, the Nepal Army who assisted in transporting goods via helicopter, and the people’s representatives of Badimalika who coordinated and collaborated in the work.

4G in Badimalika ahead of the Janai Purnima fair at 4200m of altitude

NTC has launched 4G services at Badimalika just ahead of the popular religious fair in Badimalika on the occasion of Janai Purnima at 4200m of altitude. It’s expected that the broadband services make life easier for the pilgrims, locals, tourists, businesses, and both government and non-government bodies. The service benefits lakhs of tourists who pay a visit to the hugely popular tourist destination in western Nepal.

Madhav Budhathoki, Assistant Technical Officer of Nepal Telecom, said that the area is key for religious, tourist, and trekking. Mobile and internet services will be important for pilgrims and tourists reaching the Badimalika temple, various patans, trekking routes, and the Triveni area.

Besides obvious benefits for voice and data, users in the area can also access NTC VoLTE services for HD calls too. In short, it has multi-pronged benefits for all.

According to sources, NTC is going to invest over Rs. 6 billion in FY 2083/84 to expand services and improve quality in rural areas.
