Jan 9, 2014: Nepal Government has appointed Managing Director in Nepal Telecom, which was vacant for three months time. Anoop Ranjan Bhattarai, working as a Deputy Managing Director in Wireless Telephone Directorate, was appointed the highest post of NT management today. It is believed that he is the most eligible MD of Nepal Telecom among all in race. Nepal Telecom employee and employee Unions were raising concern about the vacant position that made the telecom operator to lag due to indecision in key issues.
Though previous MD Amar Nath Singh completed his two years tenure on Ashad 27, he worked in the same position as senior Deputy Managing Director, as written in the statute of Nepal Telecom. But his position was seriously questioned due to the controversy of difference in date of birth in Citizenship and Certificates, and the post was vacant after the board’s decision to implement the earliest date that made him retired from his post.
There is a firm belief in telecom employees that this new appointment will have huge effect in Nepal Telecom’s future. Now we have to wait and see how will this appointment results as he has long list to do in the government owned operator.
