Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has recently notified all stakeholders for continuous telecom and internet services in the flood-hit areas. Recently, telecommunication and internet service has been affected across some parts of the country due to the flood and landslides. According to NTA, the floods and landslides haven’t caused any major damage to telecommunication and internet service infrastructure. However, the heavy rainfall has caused some problems in the operation of telecommunication and internet services.
Disturbance in communication service
Due to floods and landslides, several parts of the country are facing problems like power cut-off. Floods may have also affected optical fibers resulting in disturbances in the networking services.
Despite the challenges, the service providers are engaged in keeping the service running. So, NTA has asked people to complain about telecommunication and internet service problems in flood-hit areas.

Challenges for consumers and service providers
The absence of mobile and internet service brings several issues. With the absence of a medium of communication, it is difficult to receive updates from the people stuck in flood-hit areas. Similarly, the process of rescue becomes tough.
For the service providers, delivering telecom service to the affected area is a challenge. The damage brought about by the flood and landslide is inevitable, but the telecom companies are making efforts to improve the telecommunication service.
Nevertheless, NTA has requested the consumers to inform them if they face any problems while using the service. It seems NTA is collecting information about the telecom and internet service outages due to the recent flood. And they shall ask the operators to omit the problem to their capacity. But, if the primary reason behind the problem is the power cut-off, the solution is far off their hands.
