5G in drones

5G beyond smartphones? This question might have been shrugged off for any mobile network but not with the fifth-gen technology. Developers are working on bringing the hyper-fast wireless network across devices like routers, yachts, laptops, and many more.

We already know of the 5G network’s incredible potentials. It is supposed to drive cars, perform remote surgeries, and run manufacturing industries at a massive scale. However, a new set of devices supporting 5G will unleash further utility of the revolutionary wireless network. Find everything about 5G services and applications.

Recent developments are just the signs of what 5G communications could bring to the consumer market.

Soon modern-day consumers will have a higher broadband solution at the expense of a 5G network. Manufacturers are producing various gadgets supporting 5G communications. Laptops, drones, routers, and even yachts.

As technology becomes cheaper, it will spread more easily and 5G is definitely going beyond just smartphones.

5G Across The Gadgets

As 5G is full of capabilities, it is a great tool for greater marketing appeal and experiment. Various OEMs are manufacturing gadgets with 5G compatibilities.

Routers & Laptops with 5G Support

Samsung is teaming up with Verizon to bring wireless 5G routers that will bring home broadband access cutting down ugly wires. The 5G chip-equipped router would spread signals like any 5G capable smartphone.

Laptop

Then there are laptops coming to markets with 5G compatibility. These laptops are reportedly faster in performance and offer better video viewing. The only requirement is that they have to be on a 5G network.

Lenovo has released a 5G laptop named ThinkPad X13 5G that comes with a 13.3-inch screen. Samsung has also launched The Galaxy Book Go 5G with a 14-inch screen offering the fifth-gen mobile network support.

Drones and Yachts With 5G Connectivity

That is not all though. Service providers are really pushing the boundaries with 5G as a pitch for their brand and advertisement. A Monaco-based ISP, Meridian 5G has begun providing a 5G broadband network on yachts. The company employs several antennas and modems which enable yachts sailing within 60 miles of the coast to access the 5G service. Although the connectivity range is unflattering, it does offer strong promises for the future.

Yatches

On the other hand, drones can also have 5G connectivity thanks to the US chipmaker Qualcomm Inc. The company has introduced a 5G AI technology called Qualcomm Flight RB5 5G that enables higher-quality photo & video capture.

The company says the drone with 5G can be used for mapping large areas and transfer the data instantly.

“The goal of 5G, when we have a mature 5G network globally, is going to be to ensure that everything is connected to the cloud 100% of the time,” Qualcomm chief executive Cristiano Amon said at a conference last month in Germany.

5G will inspire a revolution in the IoT, service sectors, AI/VI, and everything that is possible with the internet. However, the true 5G ecosystem development will take years to substantiate. For now, developers are still expanding the network and trying to justify consumers its use for daily life.

Being a technophile, I am particularly fascinated by the evolution of mobile networks in Nepal from legacy networks (2G, 3G) to 4G (with VoLTE, VoWiFi, eSIM) and the prospects of the upcoming 5G, and equally enthralled by the development of internet from the dial-up connection to the 2 Gbps XGS-PON fiber broadband technology and their transformative impact in the country.
