Nepal’s top digital wallet Khalti celebrates its 8th anniversary on Sunday, January 26, 2025, with “Khalti@8:Celebrating Gr8 Years” reflecting its glorious 8 years of innovation, growth, achievement, and digital transformation. The company has been a key driver for the digital transformation of the economy and the promotion of financial inclusion. In this post, we discuss in brief Khalti’s humble beginning to being a top competitor in the fintech industry.

Khalti began its services in 2017 when the digital transaction was not mainstream. The company first started off with mobile top-ups and bill payments. Later, the company introduced various digital payment facilities. The expansion of new services means that users can now buy tickets to movies, concerts, sports, reality shows, etc.

On the occasion of the company’s 8th anniversary, Khalti CEO Binay Khadka shared his delight and stressed its contribution to digital transformation. He also said that the company is committed to providing users with a higher user experience with more innovative services. He said, “From Day 1, Khalti has focused on ensuring financial inclusion for every Nepali. Looking back over these 8 Gr8 years, Khalti has undeniably become a key contributor to Nepal’s Digital Transformation.”

“As we accelerate our efforts to establish Khalti as a financial lifestyle brand, we remain committed to providing our users with an exceptional experience by introducing even more innovative services,” he added.

Khalti service expansion over the years

Khalti has invested time in enhancing customer experiences and expansion. This has not only added conveniences to the user but also promoted financial inclusion. More users now have access to digital economy services with the Khalti app. So much so that customers can also shop for gadgets via Khalti Mall and get financial solutions such as insurance and investments.

Khalti has contributed to the digital economy of Nepal while also easing the life of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with digital payment facilities. Monumentally, Khalti’s interoperability into the Fonepay network was one of its greatest moments that gave it far more exposure.

On the occasion of the Khalti 8th anniversary, the company has expressed its gratitude to its users, regulatory bodies, agents, merchants, and team for their contribution to its mission of financial inclusion and the goal of a better digital ecosystem in the country.
