Parbati Karki of Bangepipal, Gangajamuna Rural Municipality-6, Dhading, has won Rs 1 crore under the Ncell Sadhain ON Crorepati campaign. She received the grand cash prize at a special ceremony held at Ncell ICON, Lainchaur, Kathmandu.
The Rs 1 crore prize campaign started from June 15 and concluded on July 16 (Asar 1 to 32). And it was only very basic to be eligible for the eye-popping prize- purchase any Ncell service worth Rs 99 or more. Besides the superlative cash prize, other prizes included weekly cash prizes of Rs 1 lakh and the bumper prize of Rs 1 crore.
How did Parbati Karki win the Ncell Sadhain ON Crorepati campaign?
The campaign winner Parbati Karki had purchased a “Basic Renewal” pack worth Rs 99, the least amount needed to be eligible for the win. She bought the pack in the third week of the campaign. She has been a loyal Ncell customer for eight years, but after this win, she has become a symbol of resilience.
Karki has been through a lot of thick in the past. She lost her one-month-old son in the 2015 great earthquake while her newly built home turned into rubble. “Everything we had built and dreamed of collapsed in a moment,” she recalled.
After this, they both went abroad for employment. While Karki returned, her husband still works out of Nepal, currently in Bahrain. Their son studies in Grade 12 in Kathmandu. Karki also serves her community as a Female Community Health Volunteer (FCHV), providing health support and guidance to rural families.

Ncell says that her journey from tragedy to triumph is “a powerful reminder of hope.” Upon winning the cash prize, Karki remarked, “I have endured so many struggles in life but never gave up and never stopped believing,” she said, overwhelmed with emotion. “This prize feels like a reward for all those years of hardship. I am deeply grateful to the Ncell family for recognizing my journey.”

Karki shares her practical plans with the money
Karki says that she will use the Rs 1 crore money to pay off their debts, bring her husband home, and invest in their son’s future. “No more foreign employment now. We want to start a business together, here in Nepal,” she says with hopeful resolve.
For a normal citizen who earns her bread and butter from work, the money will serve her a comfort and peace.
The Sadhain ON Crorepati campaign was originally launched for 12 weeks but was discontinued by Ncell on July 17 after a directive from the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA). Alongside Karki, 50 other participants each won Rs. 100,000 as weekly cash prizes under this campaign.
“It brings us immense joy to fulfill our promise and award this life-changing bumper prize as part of the Sadhain ON Crorepati campaign,” said Enamul Kabir, Chief Financial Officer of Ncell. “On behalf of the entire Ncell family, I warmly congratulate Parbati Karki. Her story is one of hope. This also reflects our unwavering commitment to keeping our word. We are humbled to be a small part of her journey, and I sincerely hope she uses this reward to realize her dream of starting her own business. We look forward to visiting Dhading once her family is reunited.”
