iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus phones are finally available in Nepal. The flagship devices from Apple have landed in Nepal after the lifting of the expensive phone ban. While these iPhones were globally unveiled back in September alongside premium Pro models: iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Retaining the same A15 Bionic chip and design language from iPhone 13, these new iterations are sporting new improved main cameras, emergency SOS via satellite, and lightly upgraded GPU. Commencing off with the design, both iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus borrow the same design language as iPhone 13 series. So, both phones are here with the same notch. The company calls it a durable and sleek aerospace-grade aluminum design in five beautiful finishes. There is also an updated internal thermal design for better heat dissipation. The US models do not feature a physical SIM tray and rely on eSIM whereas other regions will get a physical SIM tray model. As far as the button placement, there are volume rockers and an alert slider on the left side while the power key rests on the right side. Also, there is an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance on both models.
On the front side, iPhone boasts Apple’s classic 6.1-inch Retina XDR display with OLED technology. Meanwhile, iPhone 14 Plus brags a bigger 6.7-inch OLED Retina XDR display. There is no higher refresh rate and stays static at 60Hz only. Although the size difference, both displays have the same peak HDR brightness of 1200 nits, a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and Dolby Vision support. And the display is protected by the durable Ceramic Shield front cover. The company claims it to be tougher than other smartphone glass.
Both iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are rocking the same A15 Bionic chip from last year. The 5nm-based silicon is still powerful and can still stand in the competition. So, it has the configuration of Hexa-core (2×3.23 GHz Avalanche + 4×1.82 GHz Blizzard). However, these new models are having an upgraded 5-core GPU from iPhone 13 Pro series for better gaming performance.

Both models are running on the latest mobile software from Apple which is iOS 16. This new version comes with a bunch of improvisations and a revamped lock screen. So, users can get to use lock screen widgets with a multilayered effect. Also, notifications pop up from the bottom for better accessibility. Moving inside, the new software also features an iCloud-shared photo library. Hence, it allows the users to share a collection of photos with family easily. Other notable features are Live Texts, Apple Pay Later, improved health and fitness apps, etc.
Coming to the optics, both iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus sport a dual camera setup. The primary sensor is a 12MP lens with an f/1.5 aperture while the secondary is a 12MP ultrawide unit with an f/2.4 aperture and 120˚ FOV. Now, the cameras use a new Photonic engine developed by Apple. It improves low-light performance and provides extra details using Deep Fusion technology. Likewise, the new f/1.5 lens is dedicated to lesser noise, faster exposure times, and sensor-shift optical image stabilization.
Talking about the videography aspects, there is a new action mode for enhanced stabilization. Also, one can shoot HDR videos up to 60fps on these new iPhones. Likewise, there is a cinematic mode available in 4K at 30 fps and 4K at 24 fps. Likewise, there is a 12MP f/1.9 Truedepth front camera for selfies and video calls. It also doubles as a FaceID sensor with 3D scanning. Furthermore, the new selfie camera has improved autofocus and low-light capabilities. This lens can also shoot up to 4K resolution at 60 fps.

The company has surprisingly not unveiled the battery capacity for both iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. However, the company is claiming a better battery life. Also, there is fast charging support as well which seems to be 20W wired fast charging. Likewise, there is 15W MagSafe wireless charging support as well. Moreover, these new iPhones have Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and Ultra Wideband (UWB) support.
The iPhone 14 price in Nepal starts at Rs.1,54,990 for the base 128GB version. While iPhone 14 Plus price in Nepal begins from Rs.1,73,990 for the base 128GB variant. But, the government of Nepal extended the restriction of banning phones above $300 for imports, and it took months for the phone to arrive here. Now, both of the models are available in the Nepalese market.

These new iPhones offer few improvements over its predecessor. While they share a similar design language but have arrived with improved cameras and new technologies. The satellite connectivity and crash detection features are life-saving techs on both iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. Well, a 90Hz refresh would have been appreciable for this price point.
