iPhone 14 Series Rumors Roundup, 48MP Camera, and More

iPhone 14 series are just around the corner. The anticipated iPhone 14 models are launching on September 7th, 2022. The most prominent change is going to be the front design with a pill-shaped notch. And there are also a lot more things as per rumors and leaks. The upcoming models are iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max/Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. In this article, let’s know more about iPhone 14 series rumors.

iPhone 14 Series Rumors

Pill-Shaped Notch

iPhone was one of the first to introduce a notch on displays. Users didn’t like it much in the beginning until they got used to it. Android phones slowly shrunk the notches into punch holes and pop-up camera mechanisms. While Apple remained with the notch. But things are likely to change with the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro series. The newer Pro models will likely adapt to the pill-shaped notch on the display.

Apple’s new design will incorporate both a pill-shaped cutout and a circular cutout. The circular cutout is rumored to house the Face ID dot projector. And the pill-shaped cutout will include the front camera and Face ID infrared camera. Apple plans to combine the two cutouts into a single long pill shape using its software.

Satellite Connectivity

Rumor mills also had speculations about iPhone 14 series having satellite connectivity. Earlier, Apple was believed to have conducted satellite tests on its upcoming models. The satellite connectivity will enable the new iPhones to connect directly to the satellite in orbit. However, that doesn’t mean Apple is overruling the cellular connectivity. This feature is more likely for sending emergency signals to authorities from a place with no cellular connection.

Dual eSIMs Support

Apple began the eSIM support with the iPhone XS model. Also, the iPhone 13 can run on two eSIMs without having to use a physical SIM card. It’s more likely that the upcoming iPhone 14 series will also offer dual eSIMs models. Not only that but there is also a rumor of some iPhone 14 models skipping the physical SIM slot and adapting dual eSIMs support only. This will also aid in the portless iPhone future that the company has been planning for. But it might be available for select regions and markets.

A16 Bionic Chip Only For Pro Models

There is also speculation regarding the new A16 Bionic chip will only power the Pro models. So that means, the nonpro models will use the last-gen A15 Bionic silicon instead like the iPhone 13 series. This may have to do with the ongoing chip shortage and also, Apple’s tactics to make users lounge for the expensive Pro models. In spite of having A15 chipsets on non-pro models, the company is likely to provide a significant boost with new hardware and modems as per rumors.

48MP Camera

It’s been so many years that Apple has been sticking with a 12MP primary camera. Well, this might change with the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro models. These models are speculated to come with a 48MP main camera. Also, they might feature a new ultrawide camera sensor with a pixel size of 1.4µm. The last-gen model, iPhone 13 had a 1.0µm pixel size for the ultrawide lens. However, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are likely to feature the old 12MP triple camera setup.

Car Crash Detection Feature

The upcoming iPhone 14 series is also said to feature a car crash detection feature. Apple has been working on this feature to enable other iPhone models as well. But it’s likely that the newer models will have this first. If any misfortunate event like a car crash occurs, it will automatically dial emergency numbers to get help. This will greatly assist in emergency responses too.

30W Fast Charging

There is also a rumor about iPhone 14 Pro models supporting 30W fast charging. This is a boost from the 20W fast charging on the previous gen models. An unnamed charger brand is allegedly providing 30W iPhone adapters to the media for early access and review as per rumors. It will significantly improve the charging speed. However, the non-pro models might not get the 30W fast charging support.

While there is also some rumor going on about the iPhone 14 Max being named as iPhone 14 Plus. It is not sure as of now and we will have to wait for the day of launch. And the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max/Plus are expected to start from $749 and $849 for the base 128GB variant respectively. Likewise, iPhone 14 Pro may start from $1049 and iPhone Pro Max from $1149 price tags.

So that was about iPhone 14 series rumors and roundups. The new models are coming with such impressive features which can excite the fans obviously. The relief from the huge notch, at least on the Pro models is a better move from Apple for the fans.
