Apple has launched iPhone 17, part of its iPhone 17 series, with some noticeable upgrades. The new iteration comes with a 120Hz screen, boots on iOS 26, and has a faster charging speed. Here, we gather more details into this new-generation base iPhone model. Keep reading.
iPhone 17 Specifications and features
Apple iPhone 17 feels similar in outer design. It’s got a vertical camera bar on the back and rounded corners. But it’s got weightier at 177 grams. And just like the iPhone 16, its frames are also made of aluminum. The front glass gets a protection layer of Ceramic Shield 2. The phone’s got IP68 certification, which protects it from minor water and dust scenarios.

What’s better this year is the display. The iPhone 17 flaunts a larger, 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen with 3000 nits of peak brightness, up from 2000 nits on its predecessor. Likewise, the phone now sports a 120Hz refresh rate, which can scale down to 1Hz while the phone is idle. It’s a remarkable improvement from the criminally low 60Hz screen of last year. The display also gets an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare, which further improves viewing content on the screen.
In terms of software, the iPhone 17 runs on iOS 26, which is Apple’s next-gen smartphone OS. Likewise, the phone runs on Apple A19 (3nm), as do the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Pro models. The A19 Pro chipset is reserved for the 17 Pro models only. But you are unlikely to find any discernible differences in daily usage. Another good thing is that Apple has made 256 GB a standard starting storage this time. The device will also ship with a 512 GB option with 8 GB of RAM.
iPhone 17 Cameras

The iPhone 17 camera features a dual-camera setup consisting of two 48 MP cameras. It’s got one wide and one ultrawide sensor. The iPhone 16 model had a 12 MP ultrawide sensor, so it’s a vast improvement on the latest base model. The camera can take 4K videos at up to 60 fps. The front includes an 18 MP camera for selfies and also supports videos at 4K resolution with up to 60 fps.
Battery, Charging, and Others
Apple doesn’t officially disclose the battery specs of its iPhones. But it’s said that iPhone 17 has a 3692mAh battery, which is slightly larger than that of iPhone 16. The company also claims that the battery charges up to 50% in 20 minutes, which took 30 minutes on the iPhone 16. The handset supports 25W wireless MagSafe/Qi2, and 4.5W reverse wired charging too.
For connectivity, it comes with WiFi 7 support, Bluetooth 6.0, GPS, and NFC. IT has Face ID, satellite communication, and a USB Type-C 2.0 port as well.
The iPhone 17 device can be suspended on a Crossbody Strap with a Silicone Case to use it hands-free.
